8-episodes-long My Mom Your Dad premiered on HBO on January 13, 2021. The show, which has ten cast members (single parents), has been described as: “A group of single parents moves into a house together as their college-aged kids try to pull strings from behind the scenes and get their parents a second chance at love.”
Georgian native Troy Petrick is a father of four children. While Troy was always successful when it came to his career, the same cannot be said about his love life. Although for Troy, getting to live with his four children gave him all the joys he could ask for, his children were concerned about him.
As a result, Troy’s children brought him to the HBO show My Mom Your Dad with the sole purpose of giving him the second chance at finding love. Surprisingly, the move turned out to be beneficial for them as well as their father as Troy met his love, Karen Larrea, in the show.

Karen Larrea is as strong and bold as Troy. She has two children, Gavin and Breana, and she is known for giving unconditional love to her children. Troy and Karen caught each other’s eyes and seemed to have chemistry the moment they stepped into the Second Chance Retreat. Their connection only got stronger as they spent more time with each other. Plus, the conversation they had while cooking dinner on the first night itself was everything that Karen needed to forget about all the men she had initially deemed attractive.
However, their children made sure they went on dates with other casts to explore their options. Instead, all that did was bring Troy and Karen closer.
Unfortunately, the duo’s time together was cut short as Karen had to leave the show due to personal issues. Once Karen left the show, it felt a little purposeless for Troy to stay there in the Second Chance Retreat as he was determined she was his “one.”
To everyone’s joy, the duo entered into a relationship a month later. Despite the long-distance, with Troy in Georgia and Karen in Florida, it has been disclosed that they are still together.
