Netflix’s new food show, School of Chocolate premiered on November 26, 2021, and it featured eight contestants all striving to become the “Best in Class.” But among them, Amanda Miller seemed to have a different vibe about her.

The brand new baking show, School of Chocolate was all about the eight pros including Amanda Miller who studied the art of chocolate under the tutelage of a famed chocolatier, Amaury Guichon. Throughout eight episodes, they learned tricks and skills that not only elevated their knowledge of pastry but also gave them a life-changing experience.
But since this is a competition, only one will be named “Best in Class” and receive a $50,000 cash prize. Also, they’ll go on to each an international master class at Chef Amaury Guichon’s pastry academy in Las Vegas.
Amanda was first contacted about the show through her social media and selected after a few Zoom interviews. She was also asked to submit a video displaying “what (she) can do to show her abilities.”
Recalling her time on the show, Amanda mentioned that some of the pastry and chocolate challenges pushed her to her creative limits. “Previously, I was only thinking about them with a one-track mind and staying in my zone. Working with Chef Amaury changed my perspective on pastries and chocolate and how to think outside of the box when creating,” she explained.
Win or lose, Amanda only cared about gaining that “invaluable experience.” She planed to those learned lessons to her students shortly.
This season, Amanda was joined by co-contestants Juan Gutierrez, Cedrick Simpson, Daniel Joseph Corpuz, Mellisa Root, Stephanie Norcio, Thiago Silva, and Tyricia Clark.
Amanda Miller Career
Amanda Miller’s officially started her career as a pastry chef at Patricia’s Chocolates in August 2017. Since then, she has come a long way becoming the president of the American Culinary Federation and the president of Muskegon Culinary Professionals Association in January 2018.
Besides working at Patricia’s Chocolates, Amanda also worked as a chef instructor at her alma mater The Culinary Institue of Michigan in 2021. Back in June 2020, she was even-handed a national industry honor by the Center for the Advancement of Foodservice Education for her work at the institute.
This School of Chocolate star attended The Culinary Institue of Michigan for her AAS degree in baking and pastry arts from 2012 to 2014. She then continued her education at the same institute and graduated with an AAS degree in culinary arts in 2015.
So what was she doing before pursuing her career as a chef? Well, Amanda’s first recoded job was as a rural carrier for the US Postal Service from Aug 1999 to Aug 2002. Then she went on to join Meijer Inc as a hardgoods team leader and worked there till July 2007.
Her last job before pursuing her culinary passion was as a special electronics repairs for the US Army in Fort Hood, Texas. Yes, she has served in the military from January 2008 to April 2012.
