Meet Andrew Lewis, Jace Evans Dad
Jace Evans’ parents Jenelle Evans and Andrew Lewis were high school sweethearts. But they met each other on the internet which Jace posted on her 2017 memoir Read Between the Lines: From the Diary of a Teenage Mom. They met each other in person after Janelle’s birthday.
The pair dated each other from 2007 to 2009 but Andrew walked out after Jace was born in August 2009.
Then she went on to say how “enamored” she was with him that she didn’t even consider their six-year age difference or his drinking habits.
“He did drink, a lot,” Jenelle wrote in her book. “I mean, I like a beer every now and again, but he stayed wasted most of the time. At 16, I thought that was so cool. He drank more than he should, and I thought it was so adult and fascinating.”
Along with Andrew’s drinking habits, Jenelle mentioned another significant drawback of their relationship: She “became a doormat for the guy.”
“He came and got what he wanted from me when he wanted it, and I waited for him to tell me what to do,” the “Jenelle Evans Podcast” host added in her memoir. “We had to talk when he wanted to talk, no matter the odd hours We had to go out when he wanted to go out. We did what he wanted to do.”
And Jenelle stated that after telling Andrew about her pregnancy, he “put on a smile to make [her] happy.”
“Yet in my gut, I could feel that he wasn’t interested in having a kid,” she wrote. “I knew then he wouldn’t stick around. And he didn’t.”
When Jenelle was pregnant with Jace, Andrew would only visit her a few times. “He was more interested in partying with his friends and getting drunk than spending time with his pregnant girlfriend,” Jenelle claimed in her book. “Not to mention he was broker than f–k and didn’t have a job. What in the heck did I ever see in him?”
The relationship eventually came to a dead end when Andrew decided to move to China for modeling. Jenelle also said in her book that Andrew only saw their kid at sporadic times after Jace was born and the couple separated.
“He never comes to see his son though he still calls and says he wants to,” she wrote in her memoir. “It just never happens … He signed away his custody and I don’t know if he will ever be in his son’s life again.”
Later on, Andrew attempted to get back into Jace’s life. He was cited in a January 2019 Teen Mom 2 episode for texting an executive producer to inquire about meeting Jace and Jenelle in New York City. Additionally, in December 2020, there were reports that Jenelle had been having extramarital affairs. She angrily refuted these claims in a since-deleted tweet.
Jenelle appeared to insult her ex in a TikTok video one year later while lip-syncing to Queen Key’s song “Take Yo Man.” He was referred to as the “weirdest” ex among all of her ex-boyfriends in a fan’s comment under the video, which she later endorsed.
“He probably is though, no lie,” Jenelle wrote.

As of this article in October 2023, Andrew Lewis is reportedly based in New York City. “The city makes me feel whole,” he said, adding that he thinks New Yorkers are nicer than people in the South. Despite his distance from Jace and the MTV cameras, Andrew seems content with his humble life in Brooklyn and his career behind the scenes.
Speaking exclusively to The U.S. Sun, Andrew begged Jenelle who last month won full custody of Jace from her mother Barbara, to allow her to spend some time with the maturing 13-year-old. “Jenelle, Barbara, just let me see him, let me see Jace.
He also pleaded in April 2023, “Let me talk to him. Give me something. This is no more MTV bull****, this is reality.”
“Stop living on cloud nine and fall the f*** down to reality, because that’s where you’ve been living, I’m not trying to be rude to you,” said the distraught dad.
“Please let me see Jace. That’s all I ever wanted. Not just me- my family, my cousin, my nephew, my niece, my sister. Just let me see Jace.”
Andrew also shared about his feelings towards Barbara getting full custody of his son.
“Nothing but lies. Like, ‘Oh yeah, definitely Andrew, you can definitely see your son. Please keep in contact.’ F***ing liars. So, how can I feel? When they go on MTV and they say this and that about me, like ‘He’s never going to talk to us.’ You know what, I’ve tried. It makes them look good but not me. I’m here to clear my name because there’s a lot of s*** that people are judging me like I’m this crackhead and this piece of s*** guy. No, I’m not. It really does bother me. And it’s been bothering me for years upon years.”
Andrew told The U.S. Sun: “Damn. My mother actually sent me the papers. I didn’t even know that Jenelle was being given full custody of Jace. I didn’t know that. Nobody told me that…Come on dude, tell me! I’m his father.”
Jace’s father was surprised when he found out Jenelle was five full custody of his son after a decade of Jace living with his grandmother Barbara. “I was flabbergasted. Beyond flabbergasted. And it sucks.”
According to Andrew, Barbara had been receiving child support payments from him until he recently received news that it had been stopped. However, according to him, he didn’t learn that the payment was shifting as a result of the custody change until last week. The single parent stated that he will soon have a hearing to discuss child support and that he fully intends to start paying Jenelle right now.
