Meet Phil Waldron, Former Army Colonel At Jan 6 Hearings
Phil Waldron, a retired Army colonel, floated discredited claims about voting machines to top Trump White House officials and Trump allies. Rudy Giuliani ally Bernie Kerik earlier testified before the select panel that Waldron was the one who first suggested that Trump issue an executive order to seize voting devices following the 2020 election.
Phil is also well-known for sending Meadows a PowerPoint presentation in which he urges Trump to declare a state of emergency following the election. He told The Washington Post that he spoke with Meadows about allegations of election fraud after the vote and gave a presentation to Congressmen on January 5, 2021.
Midway through December, the select panel issued Phil a subpoena for papers and testimony; however, it’s unknown if he actually spoke in front of the committee. He sued in an effort to prevent the select panel from acquiring his phone records from AT&T after investigators also served a subpoena on him for them.
According to court documents, Waldron filed the lawsuit in Collin County, Texas, but AT&T moved the case to federal court on Friday. Waldron portrays himself in his filings as a “consultant” who has been employed by Texas-based lawyers “to assist in the investigation of matters related to the Election for clients of [the] Attorneys.”
In the filings, Waldron also indicates that he has signed a nondisclosure agreement “to keep confidential all information regarding the investigation being conducted by the Attorneys for their clients concerning the Election”. William Bundren, who previously represented a few pro-Trump activists who attempted to sue former Vice President Mike Pence and claimed to be the actual presidential electors from states Biden won, is representing Waldron in the complaint.
