Ben Argall often shared his flips on social media. So, as always, it was a normal day for the realtor, until a casting director of Battle on the Beach saw his flip and reached out to him to be on the HGTV show.
He was then paired up with a licensed carpenter in the area, Peter Meldrum, for the battle.
Battle on the Beach saw three teams, including Ben and Peter, as they were coached by celebrated mentors and design experts Taniya Nayak, Ty Pennington, and Alison Victoria.
These three teams were tasked to compete in weekly renovation challenges across three seaside homes with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. However, the properties weren’t identical. One house was 200 square feet larger than the others, so the teams went head-to-head in a kick-off challenge to determine which property they would overhaul.
Plus, each team only had a $90,000 budget to make it happen.
In the end, judges Bryan and Sarah Baeumler and a team of local real estate experts finally determined which team added the most value to their shorefront escape, and handed them a $50,000 cash prize.
The premiere of Battle on the Beach season 3 saw kitchen and dining room makeovers that set the tone for each waterfront property’s facelift. Then as the season continued, Ben and Peter, and their co-contestants worked on living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces, transforming them from dull to dreamy.
“I tend to be more apt to keep with the time period and kind of have more of a classic design. I am not afraid of color so in most of my houses I use a lot of bold colors, kind of the jewel tone so, blues greens magenta, that type of thing,” Ben said before joining the show.

This real estate agent initially started his career as a sales associate at You Guys Inc., Da Yoopers Tourist Trap in May 2005. After 4 ½ years, he then joined Edward Jones as a Branch Office Administrator before finally moving into the art industry as an Art & Advertising Director at Art On Ice in 2011. The same year, he also founded Blue Mohawk Studio, where he worked with latex enamel and paint wildlife, landscapes, and abstract.
Unfortunately, the art industry just wasn’t for him. Thus in 2014, he joined Re/Max 1st Realty as a realtor. Almost 5 years later, he then jumped to Keller Williams Realty, Inc, and founded Argall Real Estate Group right after leaving Keller in Jan 2021.
Now, Argall Real Estate Group has shut down, and Ben works as a real estate broker at NextHome Superior Living. Besides this, he also serves as the President-Elect of the Upper Peninsula Realtors and sits on the board of the Planning Commission for the City of Ishpeming.
So far, Ben has sold over 211 properties in the Michigan area.
When Ben’s not working, he loves playing the piano, cooking, and entertaining.
As for his education, Ben attended Northern Michigan University from 2007 to 2013 for his Associate of Arts and Sciences, New England College of Business in 2010 for his Accounting and Finance degree, and Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design in 2017 to study Interior Design.

Ben Argall was born to his parents, Michael S. and Pam Argall.
Sadly, his father, Michael passed away on September 8, 2012, at the age of 51, due to injuries sustained in an ATV accident near Clear Lake in Champion Twp. He was a New England Institute of Technology graduate who worked for the M.E. International foundry in North Lake from 1987 to 1992 and was working for Cliffs Michigan Mining (C.C.I.) at the time of his death.
“There is no denying I am my father’s son in so many ways other than looks. Every Father’s Day is a reminder of how our relationship was cut way too short,” Ben paid tribute to his dad in June 2022.
On the other hand, Ben’s mother, Pamela Kay Calhoun turned 61 in Jan 2023. She worked as a Manager at TruNorth FCU and lived in Ishpeming, Michigan with her husband Kevin Calhoun.
Yes, after Pamela’s 28 years of marriage ended due to her husband’s death, she went on to find love with Kevin and married him on August 31, 2018.
“This woman here has been so supportive of my career goals and dreams and has helped every step of the way,” Ben dedicated an IG post to his mother.
As for Ben’s sibling, Katelyn R Argall (born: May 1988) is an Ishpeming Public Schools and Northern Michigan University graduate. She led a single life in Livingston, Montana, and worked in Grants Research Project Management at Montana State University.
Is Ben Argall Married?
No, Ben Argall isn’t married. He’s waiting for the “the right guy to come along.”
For those who don’t know, Ben is openly gay. He’s had only been in a “relationship” for 1.75 years out of his 31.5 years of life or 12 years being out of the closet.
“Gay dating is the most horrible emotional mind-screwing thing to attempt. Date got canceled tonight so I guess the 99.9% cancellation rate still applies to me. At least I have clients, friends, and family that love me,” Ben expressed his frustration on IG.
Another reason why Ben thinks he hasn’t had much success in his love life is his career. “When matching with a guy on a dating app, the typical first question I get is, “Why do you have to be so far away?” I do question what my tribe in an urban area would have become and I wonder where my career would have gone,” he explained.
Trivia: Ben has been verbally abused a few times for being gay.
