He is professionally a bush pilot, plus trapper, angler, and hunter living in the remote Cree community of Weagamow Lake in Ontario. He has been here working the same trap line that his ancestors did before him.
While on Facebook, Bentley mentioned working at Weagamow Air and getting his pilot license in June 2021. His family and friends were proud of him that he had passed a commercial pilot’s flight test at the time. Also, it said that he formerly did carpentry.

Bentley as it turns out has a beautiful and much younger appearing mother, Annamarie Kakekayash; who according to her Facebook worked at North Caribou Lake Band; and has always been a native of Round Lake, Ontario. Her son’s Life Below Zero also has especially thanked her for a special appearance on its one episode in 2020.
As for Gary Kakekayash, Bentley’s father, he seemed to have worked as a base manager at North Caribou Lake First Nation Air Base (which operated a seaplane base for the community around).
