Bethany Gore is the younger daughter of Betty Gore who was with her during the altercation between Betty and Candy began. Thus, when Betty initially didn’t answer her phone even after 7-8 rings, Allan thought that Betty was taking a walk with their younger daughter Bethany.
But when she didn’t answer even hours later, Allan called his neighbor Richard Parker and the real estate agent who sold them their house to go and knock on their door. However, even as Richard tapped hard on the door, there was no answer. But he did notice that there was only one car in the garage with the door open and the lights on. Meaning, something was wrong!
Thus, concerned Allan asked Richard and Jerry McMahan (a computer analyst at Texas Instruments) to “go and get in that house anyway” they could. So, Jerry then asked his friend Lester Gayler to accompany him, and together, the three men entered the house only to find Bethany in her crib, half sitting, half lying, her legs folded under her, her face blotchy and red, her hair tangled and dirty.
Reportedly, Bethany’s skin was stained with her own excrement.
So, as the men then made their way through the kitchen to the utility room door, they found Betty with her “head blown off.”
Later, an investigation revealed that Betty, on that very day, confronted Candy about her affair with her husband Allan. Although the encounter wasn’t aggressive, Betty’s rage erupted after Candy said, “Oh, Betty, I’m so sorry.” Betty then grabbed an ax and things got scarier!
So, as their struggled for control over the ax, Betty lost control and fell against the door of a freezer. Taking advantage, Candy then brought up the ax and down on the back of Betty’s head.
