Brent Renaud Killed In Ukraine
Former New York Times contributor Brent Renaud has been fatally shot and killed in Ukraine by Russian Forces. The award-winning journalist was 50 years old at the time of his death. PEOPLE reported, Russian soldiers shot him and other two people in Irpin, according to The Kyiv Independent.
The Guardian reported that he was reportedly hit in the neck and died after coming under Russian fire while working on Sunday, according to local police officials, however, that could not be independently verified. A fellow US photographer Juan Arredondo was wounded along with him.
His brother Craig Renaud had confirmed the news of this death. Craig was not with him at the time of his death. Meanwhile, Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister, confirmed Renaud’s death in a statement to Times. Anton said Brent “paid with his life for attempting to expose the insidiousness, cruelty, and ruthlessness of the aggressor.”
