Award-winning American journalist and former New York Times contributor Brent Renaud has been reportedly killed in Ukraine amid the Russia-Ukraine war.
Concerning this terrible news, Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior minister briefed the Times that Brent paid with his life for attempting to expose the “insidiousness, cruelty, and ruthlessness of the aggressor”.
Late Brent frequently worked with his brother Craig Renaud and they were together well-known for their video projects highlighting “humanistic vérité stories” in some of the world’s most conflict-affected areas. In 2014, the veteran reporters even a Peabody award for their Vice News documentary about Chicago schools.

Brent Renaud’s death was also confirmed by the New York Times in a phone interview with his brother Craig Renaud.
Craig also confirmed he was not with him in Ukraine at the time. That, because a little over a decade ago, Craig started a family, and since then, it’s been Brent who did the filming in combat zones.
According to Craig, Brent was working for the television and film division of Time magazine on a multipart series about refugees around the world called “Tipping Point”.

Craig and Brent’s father has been running LRAssociates, a manufacturing representative company in Little Rock, Arkansas since 1981. In between, he also owned and founded a ceiling fan accessories company and a telemarketing company but sold both. While his wife since graduating from Southeast Missouri State University in 1964 has been a social worker always. In recent times, she was a psychiatric social worker self-private practice in Little Rock where she counseled both adults and adolescents coming mostly with the substance abuse cause/background.
The Renaud brothers have one more sibling and it’s their sister Michele Renaud Purifoy.

Craig and brother Brent worked together as filmmakers and journalists and under Renaud Brothers. They worked between New York CCity and Little Rock, Arkansas.
The Renauds have spent the last decade telling humanistic verite stories from the World’s hot spots.
