Chad Von Horn donned Player #286 in Netflix Squid Game: The Challenge. He had significant success in season 1 of the program because of his alliances made while competing and his abilities in various games. Many people loved him for his friendship with Mai Whelan, and they were eager to see how their partnership would affect the events that were still to come.
Even though Mai and Chad were slow to enter the production and establish themselves, they had a personal connection from the start. The test of alliance then took place. Player 182 TJ Stukes felt that Mai and him were two sides of the same coin, thus he chose her first. However, Mai later chooses attorney Chad. Player 287 finally followed her instincts after first being uncertain about whether it would be preferable to go with him or to proceed with a Women’s Alliance. On the other hand, he constantly showed her such respect that they had become a type of impenetrable team, which she really confirmed in the exam. She confessed, “286 Chad, has my trust, loyalty.”
Chad and Mai had become so close that when he asked her which side to choose in the subsequent Glass Bridge game, she leapt without thinking and he was lucky to make it out alive. Unfortunately, his good fortune didn’t last long, as he was eliminated just a few minutes after discussing with a friend in their dorm how they would play if they were both chosen to go to the final.
In contrast to Mai, who had chosen Ashely Tolbert, Player 286 chose to follow the group’s tradition and self-eliminate if his dice rolled a 6, which ultimately proved to be his downfall.

In 2018, the South Florida Business Journal named him one of the 40 Under 40 and he was chosen for Leadership Broward Class XXXVII.
Out of 15,000 mentors statewide, he was selected Florida Big of the Year in 2017, and Legal Aid Service of Broward County recognized him as Attorney of the Year in the same year.
Van Horn’s path to success started while he was a Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, business major. In 2005, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in International Business and Entrepreneurship. During his study abroad term, he studied at the American University of Rome in Rome, Italy. Through this experience, he was able to see the world from a wider range of social and economic views.
