Chef Charlie Walters advanced to the MasterChef: The Professionals 2023 final four. Sharing the news, Charlie said, “To be in the final four is a dream come true. When you first get here, the trophy is 32 people away, it’s now only four. It’s so close but it’s only going to get harder from here. I’ve just got to keep pushing, really.” The chef made it to the first round of the semi-finals on the BBC show, where faced off against some of the top chefs in the nation for weeks.

Charlie Walters On Masterchef the Professionals 2023
Charlie had been wowing the judges with a range of dishes over the last four weeks, including jackfruit boa buns and a Cornwall-inspired dish of steamed turbot and roasted potatoes with anchovy butter. Judge Monica Galetti praised his skill, stating that he had “done Cornwall proud” after his expertly prepared fish and flavorful balance astounded the judges.
Charlie leads the kitchen at Looe’s renowned Sardine Factory. The well-liked seafood eatery has a view of the Looe Estuary and the seas. Charlie acknowledged that he eats a plant-based diet personally and applies elements of that diet to his professional life, demonstrating that plants and vegetables may be just as beneficial as—if not more so than—meat and animal products.
Charlie added that after putting his “whole life” on hold to compete in the program, he couldn’t be “more proud” to have advanced to the semi-finals. He needs to win a few more dishes to guarantee his spot in the last three, and the final is almost here. Judge Monica Galetti of MasterChef: The Professionals will be returning to the panel with Marcus Wareing and Greg Wallace to evaluate the dishes before the cooks.
The final five episodes determined the winner, so the hopeful cooks needed to give their best to win the MasterChef trophy and wow the judges. The chefs competed in two rounds of the semi-finals. The four chefs that advanced face off in the final challenges the following week.

Getting to the finals is a massive achievement. It’s really a testament to my family – for all the hard work they’ve put into making sure I got where I needed to be. They also gave up a lot for me to be here now. So becoming a MasterChef: The Professionals Finalist has made it all worth it. The most challenging part has been coming up with knock-out dishes consistently with time constraints.” the chef shared when talking about how he got into the show to BBC.
Charlie Walters Career
Charlie Walters is currently a head chef at the Sardine Factory in Looe. He has been working in the company since May 2021.
He began his culinary journey at the age of 14. Since his adolescence, he has worked in renowned restaurants in Devon and Cornwall until landing the position of head chef he holds now. Charlie also took on several roles at esteemed establishments such as The Elephant and The Mariners by Paul Ainsworth.
He told BBC, “I first found my love for being in a kitchen when working for a family friend as a KP (Kitchen Porter). My first year was in 2015 and I still mark it as the best year of my life. I did well at school but never settled on where best to apply my full efforts until finding my place in the kitchen.”

Charlie Walters is one of the two sons of Gary Walters and Jules Westley. Per one IG post from June 2022, he suggested that his parents are no longer together. Charlie wrote, “I have always carried my surname with pride because of how proud I am to have both of my parents and their partners. On this day I was at my proudest. ‘Gary Walters BEM’.”
In the 2022 New Year’s Honours, Charlie’s father Gary was awarded a British Empire Medal for his many other contributions to the community as well as for his crucial services. Gary started his career when he joined the family business at the age of 15, which was the Menheniot shop and post office. He then dropped out of school. Later, when he was old enough, he took over as Postmaster at the age of 18 becoming the UK’s youngest Postmaster.

Speaking to BBC, she most recently shared, “Mum and Dad are massive parts of my life. They are both remarried and have new spouses who support me 100%. I also have a brother in his 30s, who lives in Spain and I’m really close to him.”

Charlie Walters is currently married to his wife Leah Walters. The head chef and Masterchef contestant first introduced his lady on his IG in 2020. Since then he has featured her on several posts.
“Lockdown date night 🍴,” he wrote in May 2020 post. A few months later, he wrote in another post, “Leaving lockdown in a good place and refreshed, ready to get stuck back in 🙏🏾.”
Charlie proposed to his wife in November 2020. He announced their engagement via an IG post with the caption, “She said yes!! 💎.” On their first Valentine’s Day in 2021 as an engaged couple Charlie gushed, “Happy Valentine’s Day to my gorgeous fiancée 💎”
Later in August 2022, Charlie gave a heads up for their wedding on his IG. “28 weeks until I get to change the only thing I’d ever change about you; your last name🙏🏾, ” the caption for the post read.
However, Charlie never posted any wedding pictures although we know that they are a married couple now since 13 March 2023.
Leah is available on Instagram which is private. She studied at Truro and Penwith College and Wadebridge School. She worked at The Mariners.
