So, Dan was made the “Star Baker” in Week One. He recreated the chocolate cake from the show’s intro, before wowing the judges with a cake resembling his late dog, Bruno, in the showstopper. After, he paid tribute to Bruno on a social media post that read “That one was for you Bruno, and everyone else I know past and present.” Getting called star baker he said meant the world to him. As for the viewers, he was happy that he and his “amazing” bakers were able to give them a few hours of escape to switch off from the world. Of course, he also spoke about being appreciative of all the kind words and support coming his way.
And then, in the earliest October, as Week 2 completed, with Dan’s Cheese and Onion pie, he shared that he “absolutely” loved putting the showstopper together.
At the time of this writing, the Great British Bake Off was still in full swing with its class of 2023 and Dan also continued to be in the competition. He has been lucky thus far unlike Amos, who became the first baker of the season to leave. The next week also called “Biscuit Week” saw another baker, Keith, leave the tent. Also, this time, not Dan, but Tasha won the “Star Baker” title.
