Derek Gatts is married to his HGTV show host wife Noel Gatts. On her business page on Facebook (beam&bloom), Noel has posted several times that she and Derek have been together since her husband was 19 years old. Noel and Derek celebrate their wedding anniversary on 5 September.
The married couple was inspired by her quest to “nest” through years of travel. She and her husband began their NYC adventure as touring singer/actors. After their financial situation improved the husband-wife duo purchased their 3 bedroom 1941 colonial “fixer-upper” in the lively and quaint Brookdale neighborhood of Bloomfield, New Jersey in 2014.
That was the start of Noel’s home styling career.
Now, Noel shares three kids with her husband; two sons and one daughter. In November 2021, Noel shared that she and her eldest son visited her alma mater James Madison University where he would be studying computer science.

After graduating from Otterbein University with BA degree in Vocal Performance, Dance in 2002, Derek Gatts dreamed of delving into show business and establishing a long-term career out of it. He worked as an actor/dancer/singer in regional theatre, national Broadway tours, and motion pictures.
Derek also excelled at self-promotion and the negotiation of contracts. He could liven any presentation with singing and tap dancing.
From 2002 to 2005, Derek associated and worked with Actors Equity Association.
After 2005, he switched the career path and started working for Gruss & co as an Office Assistant. He worked in the company for a year till 2006. In 2006, he landed the role of People Magazine Production Assistant at Time Inc. After working for a year, he was promoted to Ad Production Specialist in April 2007.
A year later, he became Ad Operations Associate, and in January he became Ad Operations Associate | site lead. Derek worked as ad operations manager till March 2013. Then he became associate director of Ad Operations followed by Director of Ad Operations and finally Senior Director of Sales Planning by August 2015.
Then Derek joined Global Head of Ad Trafficking and Media Planning in August 2015 in Bloomberg LP. In June 2016, he became Global Head of Ad Trafficking Technology & Innovation. He then got promoted to become Global Head of Advertising Operations and Innovations where he worked until April 2019.
In November 2019, Derek left Bloomberg to join CNN as Vice President of Ad Product. He quit his job at CNN in November 2020 and became Vice President of Network Ad Product for WarnerMedia in November 2020.
