Late CBS New York meteorologist Elise Finch or Elise Dione Finch Henriques was married to her husband Graig Henriques. The married couple met at CBS. They reportedly married in August 2013 in a glorious wedding ceremony at Untermyer Gardens.
They were happily married for 10 years. However, the married couple preferred to keep their personal life away from the public eye.
Elise spent 16 years working at WCBS. She started working for us in 2007 as our weekend meteorologist, and most recently she appeared on the morning news with Chris Wragge and Mary Calvi. Elise joined Cindy Hsu on the 9 a.m. newscast in September.
The award-winning meteorologist was incredibly proud to mention that she was born in Mount Vernon and that she attended and completed her high school education there.
Elise graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science and was given the renowned President’s Award. She later graduated from Syracuse University with a Master of Science in broadcast journalism. She had a deep passion for the entertainment business, particularly the music scene.
Elise also admitted to being a huge Janet Jackson fan. Her interviews with her favorite musicians were excellent.
The meteorologist passed away unexpectedly over the weekend at the age of 51.
Announcing her unexpected death the station said: ‘It is with profound sadness that we share news of the passing of our beloved Elise Dione Finch Henriques.
‘Elise was a gifted and consummate professional who took great care with her work. She was also a wonderful ambassador in the community, including her hometown of Mount Vernon. Above all, Elise was a fiercely loving and devoted mother to her daughter Grace and wife to Graig Henriques, who is a photojournalist at WCBS.’
The cause of her death has not been determined yet.
Elise was a beloved daughter of Mount Vernon who proudly served as an ambassador for her community. She was the daughter of James Finch Jr. and Charlette Finch. She had one Sister named Kiya Finch-Roberts.
Shortly after her passing, Finch’s colleagues paid tribute to her memory on social media, including her co-anchor Chris Wragge. “My heart is broken,” he wrote on Twitter July 16. “Our team will never be the same. No one matched musical wits better. I’ll miss you much.”
Jessica Moore, a fellow reporter, recalled Finch as “fiercely loyal to those she loved.” “A straight shooter, a consummate professional, and made me laugh until I cried,” Moore added in a July 16 tweet. “But above all, she was completely devoted to her family, especially her daughter Grace. I love you so much, my friend. Heaven now has an angel like no other.”
WCBS reporter Tony Aiello also remembered Finch for her love of music. “The song of her life deserved many more verses. Her gifts were many, and so too were the lives she touched,” he tweeted. “My deepest condolences to Graig and little Grace, her parents and sister, and all our CBS2 family.”
NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams also expressed condolences over the city’s loss. “Elise served as CBS’ meteorologist for over a decade and graced thousands of households with her genius,” she tweeted. “She will truly be missed. My prayers go to her family and friends.”
