Meet Elizabeth Brasfield, Jack Carter Wife
Jack Carter married his wife Elizabeth Brasfield on 15 May 1992. They reportedly exchanged vows in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. The family lived in Bermuda before moving to Las Vegas in 2003.
Jimmy and Rosalynn’s son, John William “Jack” Carter, was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, on July 3, 1947, when Jimmy was in the Navy. Before attending college, Jack worked at the family’s peanut farm warehouse while growing up in Plains, Georgia.
He attended Georgia Tech, Emory University, Georgia Southwestern University, and finally the Georgia Institute of Technology. Subsequently, he enlisted in the Navy but was released in 1976 due to his marijuana use, according to the Telegraph.
According to the Jimmy Carter Library, Jack returned to Georgia Tech after being released from the Navy and earned a degree in nuclear physics there. After that, he enrolled at the University of Georgia, where he graduated with a degree in law. Before working on his father’s 1976 presidential campaign, he started practicing law with Georgia state senator James Beverly Langford.
Prior to their family’s relocation to Chicago in 1981, Jack and Langford lived in Calhoun, Georgia. He was employed by the Chicago Board of Trade in addition to Citibank there.
Jack defeated incumbent Republican Sen. John Ensign in the general election after winning the Democratic primary in August 2006, according to NBC News. Ensign would resign from the position in 2011.
Rosalynn Carter, Jack’s mom, and wife of former president Jimmy Carter, died at the age of 96. Two days after the former first lady at the couple’s Plains, Georgia, home was placed under hospice care, the Carter Center declared her death. Rosalynn leaves behind a legacy of mental health activism together with her husband, four daughters, twenty-two grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Jimmy Carter, 99, who is also in hospice care, paid tribute to his wife in the Carter Center statement, saying: “Rosalynn was my equal partner in everything I ever accomplished. She gave me wise guidance and encouragement when I needed it. As long as Rosalynn was in the world, I always knew somebody loved and supported me.”
A modest woman with a gentle smile and a gentler Southern accent, she was a devout Baptist and a mother of four. The “magnolia” was that. She also had a significant role in Jimmy Carter’s ascent from peanut farmer to 1976 presidential nominee. The “steel” was that. Rosalynn Carter was the 39th president’s closest confidante, best friend, and business and political partner during their more than 77 years of marriage, until her death on Sunday at the age of 96.

Before marrying Elizabeth, Jack was married to Juliette “Judy” Langford Carter in 1971. They welcomed son Jason James, born Aug. 7, 1975, and daughter Sarah Rosemary, born on Dec. 19, 1978.
Likewise, Elizabeth also has two children named John Chuldenko and Sarah Reynolds. Sarah is a painter and John is a film director.
John is 48 years old as of 2023. John, like his sister Sarah, received his degree in graphic design at the Cleveland Institute of Art. His alumni biography states that he was inspired by a professor at the institution to pursue a career in filmmaking. After that, John turned to writing and directing, and in 2012, he released his debut feature film, Nesting.

John revealed to NPR that while on a family vacation, he first became aware of the official record collection. In 2010, John went to the renowned residence’s screening room to hear the collection firsthand after contacting the White House and receiving approval from Michelle Obama, the first lady at the time.
As of 2023, Sarah is 45 years of age. She is originally from Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and spent over a decade in New York City. She graduated cum laude with an MFA in Painting from The New York Academy of Art in New York City, and a BFA in Painting from The Cleveland Institute of Art, in Cleveland, OH.
Sarah attended The Boston Museum School of Fine Arts, in Boston, MA, and the School of The Arts, in San Francisco, California. She married artist Stephen Reynolds at The Metropolitan Museum of Art (without permission) in 2006; they have 2 daughters.
