Emily sang the female version of “Good Hearted Woman”– a duet written by Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. Bright country vocals plus the perfect melody coming out of her acoustic guitar left the judges mesmerized.
Popular country singer Luke Bryan found Emily’s singing natural and said that she has an authentic country voice. The singing legend, Lionel Richie, on the other hand, found Emily’s voice to be tailor-made for radio. He said, “You’ve got an FM voice, my dear.”
Pop artist Katy Perry also could not hold herself from raving about Emily’s voice. She said, “Your voice is sweet. We want to pull you out of that because when you gave me that little growl in there, I was like, ‘Oh there she is!'”
It was no surprise, with such wonderful comments from the judges, that Emily scored a golden ticket to Hollywood.
American Idol Season 20 contestant thanked her supporters through her Instagram right after she secured all yesses from the judges.
Many viewers may have not seen it during the episode, but Emily was sick right before her audition. The aspiring country singer was battling bronchitis and laryngitis. “We were like pumping me full of all the vitamins and immunity-booster shots that we could,” Emily told KTUL.
While we are yet to see Emily Faith’s performance in the next round of American Idol, it should not be that hard considering she made it past her audition despite being sick.
