The Big D: Are Gillian Messina And David Novello Together?
Gillian Messina and David Novello are no longer together and portray themselves as ex-spouses on the show, their relationship dates back to their teenage years. David and Gillian went to the same high school. The two met and fell in love with each other right there in the middle of their school. Soon after, Gillian and David made the decision to advance their relationship.
They were married for only four years. The couple’s relationship had been severely stressed during the pandemic, and divorce was their only remaining option.
“It allowed me to kind of realize the underlying issues from our foundation and our history that didn’t settle well,” Gillian shared about the time with Star News. “I wasn’t really agreeing with how he was making decisions and utilizing his time and that really affected the marriage.”
After the divorce her husband moved to San Diego, and “I was kind of in between whether I wanted to go back to New York where, you know, my roots were, or Florida, where my immediate family had moved. And I kind of decided I really loved Wilmington and the life that I built here.”
Gillian appears to still be fixated on David and wants to renew her relationship with her ex, which complicates matters. On the other side, David has moved on and isn’t only watching the show to rekindle his relationship with Gillian from before. Therefore, as far as we can tell, Gillian and David are both single and looking for a partner.
Even though Gillian admitted that appearing on a reality dating program has never exactly been on her bucket list, she does think of herself as a natural performer. “I’ve always had a background with dance, and singing. I like to paint. I’ve just been a very expressive person,” she said. “I have a desire to make people laugh. I never thought I would do a show but it was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I’m grateful for.”
Being on a dating show with her ex, Gillian said, “was a very vulnerable situation, because I’m usually expressing success and things that make me happy. Divorce has nothing to do with either of those things. I was hoping that my story might be able to help inspire other women going through what I went through.”
