Grant is a child actor who made his small-screen debut in 2022 appearing as 10-year-old “Luke Skywalker” in the Disney Plus’ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. However, the role wasn’t exactly his. The previous child actor (who remained anonymous) had to step down because the creative team went in a “different direction.”
It seems that directors Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau were concerned about Obi-Wan Kenobi’s story parallelling too closely to that of Mando and Baby Yoda. Thus, they made some significant changes and meanwhile also hiring of writer Joby Harold.
As for how much of the original story survived during the overhaul, director Deborah Chow shared that they “inherited some of it, but (they) did make some significant changes and add a few different elements.”
Reportedly, Obi-Wan Kenobi’s production was shut down in Jan 2020 to rework the series.
So, after a long 2 years wait, the show was ready to premiere on Disney+ on May 25, 2022.
