Guy Trench founded Antiques By Design in January 2001. He operated the company under the motto “Reclaim, Recycle, Reuse.” According to The Design Sheppard, Antiques By Design is an innovative company that uses a combination of antiques, reclaimed items, and old materials to create beautiful and unique interior and exterior pieces.
Along with reclaiming and redesigning, he also hand-crafted luxury lamps and chandeliers of all sizes.
Guy inherited the love of antiques from his grandmother. His grandmother worked as an antique dealer and growing up she also took him to antique fairs in Sussex. This helped instill the love and appreciation for antiques from a very young age.
As for Antique by Design, Guy began dealing in straight-up antiques, but as he had always worked with his hands. Then, he started giving his antiques quirky twists by adapting them into new household pieces. Guy presented his items at his first antique fair in the Grand Design fair in London. He sold almost everything so he discovered his niche.
The collector discovered all of his collectibles in antique fairs, scrap yards, boot fairs, auctions, and skips and he ended up building a business out of it.
