Jay is known for reviving the engine up at the starting line before going wheel-to-wheel with another driver.

According to his website, in 2014, Boddie hosted his first annual grudge race, ‘No Excuses,’ which brought out drivers from all over California, and almost a thousand spectators. Soon, his immeasurable driving skills, good heart, and charismatic personality caught the attention of the hit television show Street Outlaws, on which he represented California with his Nova against Daddy Dave. Boddie’s Discovery Channel debut was followed by a race against Birdman of Texas on the street racing television show House Of Grudge. In 2017, Boddie made a return appearance on the 2017 Season Finale of Street Outlaws as part of Team Cali.

Jermaine Boddie Job Beyond Street Outlaws

Starting with education, Jermaine Boddie attended Balboa High School in California. Later, he enrolled at City College of San Francisco.

From a very young age, Jay grew up hearing the thunderous rumbles echoing throughout his housing project as a toddler. Team Boddie’s racing history dated back to the 60s and fast cars and street races became a staple in the Boddie family tradition.

After all the turmoils that came in his life, at the age of 36, his life became very different for him and he started following his true passion for racing. His father Kenny and his uncle Ronnie Boddie were big names in street racing in San Francisco. Their repertoire included a multitude of cars including a 1968 GTO, a 1968 Firebird,  a 1968 Road Runner, a 1969 Charger, a 1970 Roadrunner, four 1955 Chevy’s, a 1963 Nova, and the famous black and blue 1968 Camaro.

Jermaine jumped back to street racing which kept Jay focused. After years of focusing himself on building teams, he formed his own West coast drag racing point series with seven yearly events. He has worked for Team Boddie Racing (TBR) ever since. His racing career started in 2010 with a Camaro, body painted with Royal blue.

A pivotal moment in Jermaine’s career was in 2012 when he followed in his father’s footsteps and bought his current car, a 1963 Nova.

According to Team Boddie, his sponsors include Nor Cal Drag Racing (2017). Whereas, his team included 12 racers including him and his son. Besides that, the team’s website also gave info regarding TBR events.

Team Boddie Racing is also on YouTube under the channel name TeamBoddie Racing Official. The channel has 4.08k subscribers.

Besides racing, he also pursued basketball as a career, as his father encouraged athletic prowess in his children. While in high school, he became a point leader only after a year on the team. He held two records, once when he scored 116 points in three games at their annual tournament, and second by scoring 42 points in a single game.

However, Jermaine struggled personally when he was involved in drug dealing. According to the document from JUSTICA US Law, he sold 15 kilograms of cocaine in the summer of 1999 until March 2001 with his friend Saunders Mabery. They shipped cocaine in food cans sent to a store in McKeesport, Pennsylvania from which they earned $17,000 per kilogram.

Later, DEA arrested Boddie (then 27-years-old) and his friend while they arrived to collect $75,000. Boddie received 120 months of minimum sentence and 60 months of supervised release.
