His mother, Fran Calcutt Toledano was born in August 1962 in Florence, South Carolina. She went to South Florence High, then studied BS in Elementary Education at Francis Marion University, and finally got her Elementary Education Masters Degree at The University of North Carolina. Now, she worked at Daufuskie Island Elementary School and resides in Daufuskie Landing, South Carolina.
