Hunter McKnight On Survivor 46
Hunter McKnight makes his survival video games while he’s not in the classroom. For its 46th season, the ground-breaking reality TV program SURVIVOR made a comeback. Two Mississippians, one of whom is from French Camp, are also players.
“During fall, I spend my afternoons coaching football but during the afternoons during the spring, I just love to spend my afternoons building things,” Hunter told WCBI. “I played this big game of SURVIVOR with the kids and had a lot of fun with it. The kids received it super well. It really convinced me maybe it was the Lord’s way of showing me maybe this is something you enjoy and maybe this is something you should be doing.”
Hunter created his own clubhouse, trivia games, and courses based on his passion in the reality TV show. Students have the chance to play his adaptation of SURVIVOR every year. The winner receives $1,000, wall display space for their photo, and the right to brag. And in the last four years, the arrangement has only gotten bigger.
“I’ve built these big challenge fields in addition to just building all the challenges. I’ve got these big platforms, all these individual stations, but I have also built a big tribal council tree house with a big ole rope bridge going across to it and a rope bridge to where they vote, to where they draw, let down the staircase,” Hunter added.
Hunter stated that there is a large support system behind him as the 46th season premiere approaches. His sister Mollee announced on her Facebook, ”
Due to the large crowd that is expected to attend the Survivor 46 Watch Party we have changed the location. We will now be at The Living Stones Building at French Camp Presbyterian Church. (323 School St, FC). Survivor 46 Watch Party in French Camp, Ms #TeamHunter46.”
Hunter explained further, “I do this with the kids and now they get to watch me do it on national TV. I joked with them about it and was like ‘I can not just go out there and completely flop and then come back and teach in the classroom because high school kids do not let you forget anything.’ And so they hold it against you, but they have been super sweet and supportive and they have just been very excited about getting to share it with me and I can’t wait to get to share it now with them.”

Hunter graduated a semester early from college. And that was the fall semester of my senior year when he got introduced to it. He came back home and his sister was on maternity leave. So, he got to sub for her in the classroom, so he had the opportunity to really do that.
Hunter added, “I ended up really loving getting to serve the kids and getting to do Survivor with the kids. And I was like, “Okay, it’s obvious this is something that’s just a lot of fun.” I love being able to see kids and their highs and their lows. When you’re a doctor, you only see them when they’re sick.”
He attended French Camp Academy and earned his university degree from Mississippi College.
