On September 25, 2023, Torrey DeVitto, the former star of Pretty Little Liars, shared pictures of herself sporting an emerald-cut diamond ring on that finger to announce her engagement to her director fiance Jared LaPine. In one picture, the couple was seen relaxing in a park, and in another, which was taken right after the proposal, Jared was seen kissing Torrey.
“Earlier this month at 5 pm on a weekday while walking the back trails at the farm, still in my PJs and goat boots, he got down on one knee, in what I hoped wasn’t poison ivy, and asked for forever. My answer was obvious.” the post of engagement read.
Jared made a contribution of his own, “On September 1st, I got engaged to my best friend. Now I get to spend every single day as the luckiest man in the world. I love you more than anything and everything.”
The relationship went public in June 2023. Jared soft launched their relationship with a caption, “Enter Cheesy/Sappy line here. I love us.” They were also traveling to Spain together and wrote, “Had a wonderful time in Spain 🇪🇸 ❤️.”
Later that month, while visiting family in Michigan, the Chicago Med star uploaded pictures of the couple cuddling in a field. “Michigan Poppies and Pride,” she wrote at the time. “#HappiestPlaceOnEarth.”
A source told EXTRA TV, “He proposed at home on her farm in Michigan. It happened over Labor Day weekend. It was a big surprise, even though they had talked about it someday, she didn’t know it was happening that week at all.”
Jared and Torrey reportedly met through the latter’s cousin.
Torrey was formerly married to her co-star on The Vampire Diaries, Paul Wesley, from 2011 to 2013. She was associated with David Ross, manager of the Chicago Cubs, and Will Estes, star of Blue Bloods, in recent years. She shared a photo of herself kissing Ross on the cheek in May 2021. On Instagram, she said, “Love him madly.”
“What am I looking for? A best friend, somebody to travel with, a partner, somebody who has the same values as me,” Torrey said of her ideal partner in a 2019 interview with Us Weekly. “You know? A family unit, traveling, just fun.”

Jared, Jordan, and Ryan lost their grandfather Lyle Ray LaPine on 29 June 2021. He was born on February 19, 1928, to Roy Wilson LaPine and Viola Thorpe LaPine.
Lyle was a typical young man of his generation and was raised on the family farm in Paw Paw, Michigan with his brother, Jack, and sister, Sandy. He was once pinned down by a turkey as a toddler! He walked 2 miles every day to country school and would drink milk after milking the cow himself.
Lyle’s father, being quite mechanically minded, started LaPine Sheet Metal Company. Though his education did not go past sixth grade, his father was known to be exceptionally smart. He taught valuable lessons to Lyle growing up, most notably that he believed you helped people first and got paid later, if at all.
Lyle attended Paw Paw High School where he graduated in 1946. He started college at Western Michigan University but later transferred to the University of Michigan hoping for a better education. He graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering. While at UofM, he ran track, pole vaulted, and was President of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.
Lyle landed his first job at Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, where he was the Chief Mechanical Engineer for the HVAC division. He designed the HVAC system for the Boeing 737s. While in Seattle, Lyle met the love of his life, Marguerite Jeanne Hunter. They both belonged to a Catholic social club, called Chancellor Club, where different events were held. Peggy went to the bowling alley to watch Lyle, who had been wanting to meet her.
Lyle asked her to be on his team, and they won the league! Lyle admired Peggy’s love of sports, dancing, and faith. One of their first dates was golfing at a lighted Par 3 golf course. The two also took a memorable ski trip to Mt. Hood in Oregon where, instead of spending time out with friends, they spent a cozy New Year’s Eve together. They returned there many times to ski. Lyle and Peggy quickly fell in love and were married on April 28th, 1956 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Paw Paw; a marriage lasting 65 years.
