Kidd Youren has been a cast member on the show since Season 8. Also, most of you should already know that he made his debut on this show with his brother Harry Youren.
Mountain Men introduced them as brothers hailing from beneath the glacier-carved peaks of the Sawtooth Range. They are said to be the last in a long line of frontiersmen stretching back to the pioneer days.
Born and raised in the mountains Kidd and his brother are seen as committed to spending their lives in the mountains by any means necessary. Fans are shown how to hold onto a lifestyle that is fast disappearing, they have learned to become Jack of all trades. In any given season, Kidd can be seen far from civilization clearing trails, running cattle, navigating whitewater, hauling supplies, or hunting down meat to fuel all of the above. It is a life beset with toil and danger that Kidd and those around him lead and that is what we get to see also.

Kidd’s family is Idaho’s renowned generational hound hunters. They first came to Idaho and began hunting in the 1860s. Back in 2014, this family also starred in truTV’s series Way Out West.
Kidd’s family has been running rival outfitting businesses in south central Idaho for a long time. It was his father, Dusty Youren who started Youren Outfitters in the 1970s. This second-generation family-owned and operated business have since covered ground in Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and British Columbia.
Then, in 2007 when the patriarch retired from the business it was passed to the next generation of Yourens. Kidd took over the family business. He was 19 then. Brothers Harry and Matt, Matt’s wife Amanda, also joined Kidd in the business. Kidd’s own wife joined him in the business in 2012.
Kidd’s father is Dusty turned 65 in May 2022. Before that, he also authored the book “Life Doesn’t Get Any Better” where he told stories about a man, his dogs, his horses, his hunts, and his heritage. And back in 2000, he pleaded guilty to illegal outfitting. Based in Pleasant Valley, Utah, at the time, Dusty and Glynn Montero were required to jointly pay $1,500 restitution to the Nevada Division of Wildlife’s Operation Game Thief program. Each was also fined $2000 but $1500 of that was suspended provided they had satisfactorily completed three years of unsupervised probation.
Having said that we could yet find out who Kidd’s mom is. We however found out that Kidd’s grandfather, James Edward Youren survived until 6 April 2014 and left behind his dear wife, Janet “Jan” Youren of Garden Valley.
