Chad Gupton from Pleasant View, Tennessee sought the assistance of Juan Manuel Nio, a matchmaker, to help him locate his ideal partner in Colombia after three failed engagements. The June 18 episode featured the first meeting between the two. Chad confessed in a confessional as he was flying from Tennessee to Colombia, “This is why I don’t fly.”
He added, “Not only am I dealing with a culture shock, but I’m going on my first date in 2 years and I’m definitely sweating up a storm.”
Chad changed into a fresh outfit and gave himself a pep talk in the restroom as his plane touched down. “Just be you, don’t try to be somebody you ain’t,” he said. Chad and Isabel Angel’s first encounter took place at the airport rather than on a more conventional date, as Juan said in a confessional, “because he needs to relax.” The speaker continued, “I think this way he can’t overthink or overstay.” Chad acknowledged being “nervous,” “anxious,” and “feeling everything you can feel,” despite this.
Fortunately for Chad, by the time he met Maria, he was able to control his anxiety. He told his love interest before he took her to a restaurant: “I’m looking forward to getting to know this country and getting to know you.”
“I was shocked, I mean long, dark hair, perfect body, she looked like a model,” Chad said about his first impression of Maria. “But she gave me a big hug, apparently she knew that I looked like somebody who was lost. Apparently, I look lost.”
Chad was so taken by Maria that he even tried to become engaged after their second date.
On the program from August 6, Chad and Maria separated. Chad became irate when Maria said she only wanted to be friends and wouldn’t let her explain why she didn’t think they would make a good couple. Eventually, she was able to explain that she desired a companion who could unwind because he was very preoccupied with his profession.
Chad, however, found the explanation to be insufficient and made the decision to leave Colombia. Later, viewers saw Chad confront Juan about the failed romance; however, the matchmaker claimed that Juan’s three engagements ended because he went back to his old habits.
When Chad finally received assistance from Juan in understanding his errors with Maria, they called Maria to apologize, but she didn’t pick up and the call went to voicemail.
Chad and Maria didn’t end up being a good match, but it seems like he eventually met someone.
According to the reality star’s Facebook profile, Verena Neunzig is the person he is now dating. Whether Maria has moved on since their brief affair is not yet evident.
Maria has been updating her followers and in her recent post after the finale aired she shared that it was painful for her to watch the last episode as it reminded her of how bad she felt. She also updated that Chad has been telling his followers that it was an act but Maria took to her TikTok to say that it wasn’t an act and he really reacted like that.
