There was no prior mention of Matheus before but The Messenger found references to his husband. Back in 2020, George Santos said that he was living with a partner named Matheus (aka Matt) and their four dogs.
George responded to the internet commotion early on Monday morning by sharing a picture of himself with Matheus Gerard, who is named as his spouse, Matt.
At just before 2:30 a.m., alongside the image, George wrote, “For those wondering and going nuts, this is Matt, my husband since Nov 2021… I’m not sure where all the “hard launch” comments came from.” He added further, “Or maybe it’s just that people are starting to understand they got played by the media with all the nonsense they wrote about me? Nonetheless, have a fantastic time pretending the media depiction of me is correct.”
But in the midst of his prolonged scandal over his fraudulent CV, his sexual identity was called into question when it was discovered in December 2022 that he had previously been married to a woman. “I dated women in the past. I married a woman. I am okay with my s*xuality. People change.”

The Advocate examined pharmacy licenses in New York and New Jersey and found that neither pharmacists nor pharmacy technicians held a license under that name.
Hence, it is not confirmed if Matheus is actually a pharmacist.
