The Crown and cult sci-fi drama Blake’7 actor Stephen Greif died at the age of 78. There were rumors that he was in a relationship with Caroline Slocock. After Stephen’s death, Caroline took to her social and wrote, “It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Stephen Greif, award-winning RADA-trained actor and voice actor in television, stage, film, radio, and talking books.”

Stephen was born in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, he attended and graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and went on to become a member of the National Theatre Company at the Old Vic and Southbank. He transitioned to film after appearing in a number of stage performances in the 1960s and the early 1970s, obtaining the part of space captain Travis in Blake’s 7.
Greif co-starred in the 1978–1981 television series with Gareth Thomas, Paul Darrow, Michael Keating, and Sally Knyvette. Prior to winning one of his last roles as Speaker of the House Sir Bernard Weatherill in series four of The Crown in 2020, he had played Signor Donato in Casanova and Commander John Shepherd in Shoot On Sight.
