Gwen Isaacs is the ex-wife of HOTD Actor Graham McTavish.

HOTD actor Graham McTavish was previously married to his wife Gwen Isaacs. They met each other when Gwen attended Auckland University of Technology. It is unclear when they tied the knots under the wrap. But, in order to be with his wife, he chose to relocate from Scotland to New Zealand.

However, the marriage fell apart for an undisclosed reason and they split sometime after 2020. Since then, Graham has been in a relationship with French photographer Garance Doré. The two chose to move in together just prior to the first Covid lockdown in Wellington. They have known each other likely for more than a decade.

Moreover, they appeared together at an event for Outlander (2014). Reportedly in June 2022, Graham and Garance allegedly tied the knots.

Speaking about how she juggles motherhood and career, Gwen told NZ Herald, “One of the reasons I chose this project was that it would fit around family. I carried my daughter in a front pack for a lot of it, providing grief for my sound mixer with the amount of noise she made. The whole reason I had a second child was that Margaret told me to. I found myself doing pretty much whatever she said. I fell in love with her and when she said, “I think you should call your daughter Hope,” I did.”

Gwen’s next job  an oft-repeated BBC documentary series, following members of the clergy at York Minster  opened her eyes “to a more gentle way of presenting the human condition”. Her self-conceived documentary Old Dogs, New Tricks (2004), about retired racing greyhounds, won good reviews and was selected for Metroland, a slot on the ITV network for young directors.

She founded Midnight Swim Productions, producing both behind-the-scenes content and documentaries aimed at a UK audience. Isaac befriended Margaret Lee, who was in the early stages of Motor Neuron disease. “My opening gambit was that we’d make an aide memoire for their daughter Imogen, who was 10. They were right up for it, which was a dream come true for an observational filmmaker”.

Debuting at the 2017 NZ International Film Festival, it won Isaac Best First Time Director at the London Independent Film Awards.

Gwen directs feature and short documentaries. She has a background directing highly-rated prime-time docu-series for BBC Scotland, NBC (USA), and ITV London. She has interests in developing and supporting Aotearoa-based intellectual property within formatted docu-series for the international market, driven by Massey-based talent.
