Meet Jennifer Standridge, Maddy Morphosis Partner
Jennifer Standridge was first put to the international spotlight in 2022 after her partner Maddy Morphosis broke RuPaul’s Drag Race tradition by becoming the first straight, cisgender man to ever join the show.
In case you’re new to the show, this Emmy Award-winning franchise debuted its first season back in 2009, and since then, there never had been a straight man ever on the show.
“I broke that glass ceiling, yeah. It’s finally time for a straight, white man to have their piece of the pie, right?” Maddy joked over a live stream in Dec 2020 announcing the cast. And this wasn’t well perceived by many.
The fanbase was soon split in two — one claiming that the show provided an opportunity to a “privileged, cis-hetero white man”, which could have gone to an LGBTQ+ person who far more needed it. While the others supported Maddy.
Among the group of supporters lied drag queens including Gottmik, Jasmine Kennedie, Angeria Paris VanMicheals, Brooke Lynn Hytes, and Maddy’s dearest, Jennifer Standridge.
Jennifer even took it to her FB to promote her partner’s appearance, writing, “Tonight is the night!! Come watch NWA’s own Maddy Morphosis make her premier on RuPaul’s Drag Race!!”
Responding to the controversy, Maddy shared that the concepts of “masculine” and “feminine” were “arbitrary and made up”. And for anyone arguing that she represents an “underrepresented group,” she says, “I appreciate you, but straight men are not a persecuted and excluded group within the drag community.”

Back from Jun 2020 to August 2021, Jennifer also took on a job at Target in Fayetteville.
Her interest outside of academia includes “helping disadvantaged youth and communities access better healthcare and education”. While her interests in academia lie within “hereditary neurodegenerative diseases and neuroimaging.”
