Return To Amish: Who Are Jeremiah Raber Parents?
Jeremiah Raber was born to his parents, Larry Hiltabidel and Sherry. But he only knew about it in Return to Amish season 5 after he did a DNA test that showed that Dennis (who claimed to be his father) wasn’t his biological father.
For those who’re new to Return to Amish, Dennis (who was married to Jeremiah’s biological mother) has appeared on the show quite a few times. He claimed that he was Jeremiah’s father. But as the Return to Amish star didn’t feel the “spark” he expected to feel when he met his biological family, he took a DNA test.
Now, talking about Jeremiah’s road to finding his biological dad, it certainly wasn’t easy. From reaching a dead end with a potential dad to bonding with blood relatives, he was on an emotional rollercoaster. He even got to meet his cousins and even spoke to his grandmother over the phone.
But when he finally found his dad, he was already dead.
Obviously, Jeremiah didn’t take the news well. His hopes of meeting his dad and building a father-son bond were shattered in an instant. The stress even aided his infertility.
However, Jeremiah did get a tattoo (with his father’s name, birth date, and passing date) in July 2021 to remember his father).
Meet Larry Hiltabidel, Jeremiah Raber Father
Larry Hiltabidel is Jeremiah Raber’s biological father.
He was born in Cuyahoga Falls to his parents, Ronald and Mona Hiltabide. Also, he has brothers named Jeffery, Thomas, and David, and sisters named William Peters, Darlene Parks, and Duane Rex.

What Happened To Larry Hiltabidel?
Larry Hiltabidel was murdered by his wife Sheila Hiltabide! Reportedly, he was stabbed to death at home and died at Barton Citizen’s Hospital at 11:52 PM, about two hours later.
A Detective on his cast, Mr.Mosley said, “We don’t know for sure what led up to the stabbing, but what we do know are some of the events that happened that night.”
But according to Jeremiah, while his mother was married to Dennis, she had an affair with her sister’s husband Larry. And that was when she got pregnant. Thus, after the truth came to light Larry’s wife (his mom’s sister) murdered him.
Reports said that Larry was out late with friends hanging out when came home at about 10:00 PM only to be stabbed in the chest by his wife. He then made it out of the house and the neighbors quickly called 911. Unfortunately, the help arrived too later and he took his last breath two hours later.
Also, right around the time, Larry was murdered, Mystic and Aaron Raber adopted the Return to Amish star. To be precise, Jeremiah was born in January 1980, and in the same year, he was taken away from his biological mother. So, it was only later in 1981, that they officially adopted him.
As for Larry’s wife, Sheila pleaded guilty to manslaughter in court. She got a plea deal with a 5-25 year sentence. But four years later, she also died at the age of 33.
Thanks to this tragic incident, Jeremiah now blames himself for his father’s death.

Sherry is Jeremiah Raber’s biological mother.
As per Jeremiah, she got pregnant with him while she was married to Dennis. But there are some differing timelines, one of which points to Sherry being already pregnant by the time she met Dennis.
So, given Sherry wasn’t honest about what happened. The authenticity of this whole story is questionable. Jeremiah’s mother not only lost the biological father of her child but also lost her sister who killed the man that she had slept with. It’s almost too bizarre to be true.
Most viewers don’t believe a word Sherry says. Infact, many despise her for the way she treated Jeremiah on Breaking Amish. Over an ep, she once even told him that he was not her son and she has all of her kids that love her. What a cruel thing to tell one’s own child!
But Jeremiah loves her unconditionally, after all, she’s his mother.
On the other hand, he doesn’t fit in well with his adoptive family. “I never really lived by [their] rules since I knew I wasn’t meant to be Amish. Don’t get me wrong they do have good things going on. Then just because I didn’t live up to their expectations my adopted mom looked me straight in the eyes and told me 3 different times she doesn’t know why she adopted me,” he explained.
