Marc Gordon is a Grammy-nominated musician. He is a singer, songwriter, producer, & founding member of an American R&B group, LeVert. LeVert was a Cleveland, Ohio-based American R&B vocal quartet. Sean and Gerald Levert, sons of Eddie Levert, founder and main singer of R&B/Soul vocal group O’Jays, and Marc Gordon formed LeVert in 1983.
The group released their first single “I’m Still”, for Harry Coombes’s Tempre label. In 1985, the group released their debut album I Get Hot, which comprised tracks whose vocals drew strong comparisons to Sean and Gerald Levert’s father Eddie. Their second album was Bloodline released in 1986.
A year later they released The Big Throwdown and the song from the album Casanova hit on the pop chart (number 5) and also a UK Top 10. In 1988 the follow-up album Just Coolin’ was nominated for Best R&B/Urban Contemporary Album for the 1989 Soul Train Music Awards.
The Big Throwdown and Just Coolin’ received a gold certification. They released four more albums. Sadly, band member, Gerald died of a heart attack due to an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in November 2006. Sean Levert died in March 2008, while serving time in the Cuyahoga County Jail for failing to pay child support.
Gordon later formed a new band named LeVert II with two new members Blaq Rose and Parrice Smith.
According to Gordon’s LinkedIn, he is the founder of SOEL (Saving Our Entertainers Live) Foundation which he started in April 2012. He is also the host of the webcast show Marc Gordon Show in July 2012. He has been serving as the president of 9311 Entertainment Group since 2007 where he also contributes as a singer/songwriter/producer/artist.
