90 Day Fiance: Memphis Smith And Moknii Hamza’s Relationship
After an unstable childhood, failed relationships, and a divorce, Memphis Smith, with the hopes of finding her “one”, registered on an international dating website in early 2021. After some failed romances, Memphis finally found her love in a 28-year-old Moknii Hamza from Tunisia.
Both of them felt an instant attraction when they video-chatted for the first time. Talking about the things that got Memphis attracted to Moknii, she said, “Hamza is a very handsome guy and he has a way with words or let’s say a way with texts, you know what I mean? He is a smooth talker, you know what I mean?”
After only a few months of video chats, text exchanges, and phone calls, the two were sure they were made for each other. Then, Moknii proposed to Memphis and they got engaged online.
Although some of Memphis’ family members, including her mom, were very skeptical of Hamza, Memphis desperately wanted to fly off to Tunisia to meet the man of her dreams and decide for herself if they have a future together.
The travel restrictions imposed by COVID-19 delayed Memphis’ plans to go to Tunisia and get married within three days of her arrival in Tunisia.
However, when travel restrictions eased up, Memphis faced some “high anxiety” before meeting Hamza in person for the first time. As for the reasons, she told, “When you’re going somewhere new, it’s always nerve-wracking at times, especially with COVID going on and all of the restrictions, the language and all of those things, playing a part…, ” to Hollywood Life.
Memphis further explained that she was also concerned about whether or not they would connect upon their first face-to-face meeting. “Anticipation is always the biggest thing as far as like, ‘Are we going to connect, are we going to like each other?’ Because when you’re looking at a video, you just don’t know if you’re going to have that connection [in person], ” Memphis Smith told to HL.
When the two finally met, of course, there was the whole language barrier and cultural disparities, but there was something else too. That was the prenuptial agreement. When Memphis asked Hamza to sign a prenuptial agreement, he declined her request saying that: ‘We don’t have prenuptial agreements in Tunisia.’ However, the audience saw Memphis stand her ground and reply, “If you do not sign, I do not want to marry you.”
This caused a major roadblock and it delayed the couple’s plans to get married immediately upon their meeting.
