Michael Richard On Queer Eye
A farmer by profession, Michael was a child when he first developed an interest in plants, gardening, and farming. The feeling of giving back to the community was instilled in him because he himself grew up in such an environment where they constantly gave back despite not having much for themselves.
For as long as he can remember, Michael struggled with his identity and self-worth. A worker at Recirculating Farms in New Orleans’ Central City, Michael constantly struggled with feeling worthy of people’s time and feeling judged while talking about gardening and farming.
Michael’s fiance Kaila Marie Vignes nominated him on Queer Eye. The first thing Michael’s supervisor, Marianne, did in his makeover was to instruct the Fab Five to show Michael that he is worthy of respect.
Grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness tried channeling 10% of Michael’s enthusiasm for gardening into grooming himself; he gave his hair a fresh Afro look. Culture expert Karamo Brown showed Michael that he has community support accessible to him. Fashion expert Tan France helped Michael in finding a happy medium; he designed outfits for Michael and built him a wardrobe.
Design expert Bobby Berk pushed Michael onto sending his application to become the Executive Director of Recirculating Farms which he had put on hold for years. Bobby also transformed Michael’s house into a welcoming space for guests. Finally, Food and wine expert Antoni Porowsk assisted Michael in Recirculating Farms’ annual fundraiser; she helped with the catering and was also in charge of appetizers at the event.
After the makeover, Michael seemed to be doing good in both his personal as well as professional life. As of May 2023, he was serving Recirculating Farms as a director, with his process of becoming Executive Director still continuing.
Furthermore, Michael was also accepted into the environmental law program with a scholarship. As a result of which, he is currently pursuing a Master’s in Environmental Law and Policy at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.

We can happily say that Michael Richard and his partner Kaila Marie Vignes were still together at the time of this writing. On February 23, 2023, Kaila even shared a picture of herself and Michael on her Facebook.

Talking more about Michael’s job, he is on the leadership team of the Greater New Orleans Growers Alliance and a Food Policy Action Council. The reality TV star leads programs for children and young adults, focused on inspiring connections to fresh food and healthy lifestyles.
A recipient of the National Young Farmers Coalition’s 2023 Young Farmer Grant, Michael also pursues his passion for modeling and acting.
