Trent William Millsap is the killer of NASCAR driver Bobby East. As reported, Trent fatally stabbed Bobby at a Southern California gas station. According to reports, police were called shortly before 6 p.m. to a gas station in Westminster, an Orange County city, and found East with a stab wound to his chest.
Bobby was taken to a trauma center where he succumbed to injuries and died. Trent was identified as a suspect by Westminster police detectives. He received parole after conducting an armed robbery. An arrest warrant had been issued for him on an unrelated parole violation, police said.
“Officers attempted life-saving measures until OCFA paramedics arrived and transported the victim to a local trauma center, where the victim succumbed to his injury,” Westminister Police said in a statement. It’s not clear why he was in Westminster, about 33 miles south of San Dimas.
Trent was initially characterized by Westminster police as a homeless guy who was known to stay at hotels in Westminster as well as adjacent Garden Grove and Anaheim. Millsap reportedly fled the area after the stabbing. At the time, police had warned that the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
The suspect description stated Trent as “Male, White, 6‘05” tall, muscular build, bald, tattoos on his head, face, neck, chest, arms, and hands”.
Early Saturday evening NASCAR released a statement acknowledging the death of one of its own. “NASCAR is saddened to learn of the tragic death of Bobby East,” the sanctioning body for stock car racing said. “We extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Bobby, a true racer.”
Bobby East was born in Torrance, Los Angeles to his parents Bob and Janice East. However, the family later moved to Brownsburg, Indiana, to mount his racing career.

Yes, police shot Trent William Millsap two days after Bobby East’s death. According to NBC News, Trent had an encounter with police two days at an apartment complex, Westminster police revealed. Police were there to arrest him.
When the West County SWAT Team went to an Anaheim apartment complex Friday to serve an arrest warrant, Trent “became confrontational,” a police dog was deployed and Trent was ultimately killed in a shooting with police, the department said.
No officers were injured but a police K-9 sustained a single non-life threatening gunshot wound.

In California, if a person dies of someone else’s action, the second person could be criminally charged under California law. Based on the nature of the death, authorities could prosecute the death as First-degree murder, second-degree murder, capital murder, voluntary manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, and vehicular manslaughter.
If the second person kills the first willfully, deliberately, and is premeditated then it is categorized as a first degree. In this case, one can receive a sentence of up to 25 years in state prison. If a person is willfully killed but not deliberate or premeditated it categorizes as second-degree which has a provision of 15-years-to-life.
Capital murder charges are known as “murder with special circumstances”. Voluntary manslaughter describes a situation in which the killing of a person is willful and deliberate, but not premeditated. It carries a sentence of three, six, or 11 years in state prison.
Whereas Involuntary manslaughter is the killing of another person without malice or intent to kill but rather done with the conscious disregard for human life carries a state prison sentence of two, three, or four years.
As for vehicular manslaughter, it can be prosecuted as a felony or misdemeanor. Felony charges carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, while misdemeanor charges carry a maximum term of a year in state jail.
But, because of the nature of Bobby’s death is unclear, and his killer Trent was shot and killed, there is no information currently on the charges and term of the prison sentence he would’ve received.
