Meet Nathalie Emmanuel Family
Nathalie Emmanuel was born into a family of diverse heritage. In a tweet from July 2011, she opened up about her heritage stating that she her “is 1/2 Dominican, 1/4 Spanish 1/4 Irish… My dad 1/2 St. Lucian 1/2 English.” The actress was born in 1989 in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England.
The GOT actress also touched on her parent’s heritage during her interview with Byrdie. She shared that her family is “St. Lucian and Dominican — not to be confused with the Dominican Republic.” She added, “My mom is half Dominican, my dad is half St. Lucian, and both of my grandparents came to the U.K.”
When talking about how her family taught her to accept her natural hair as a child, Nathalie said that she was “fortunate in that respect because both of my parents are mixed, and my hair wasn’t something they had to learn to manage or cope with.”
“I was grateful because my mom had just taught me to do what she did with her hair,” she continued.
She did admit, though, that accepting her hair “has been a challenge,” particularly because she attended a predominantly white school as a child where few other families resembled hers. When she wore her hair down to school, she was even warned that it was a “health and hygiene issue.”
“However, at home, it was a different story,” she said. “My mom has big curly hair, too, and I always felt empowered to love my hair.”

On Mother’s Day 2021, Nathalie wished her mom, “Happy Mother’s Day to Mama Debs and to all the badass Mama’s out there. I can’t talk about this woman right now without crying because I miss her so much. This was at the Super Bowl last year before the world shut down. Can’t wait to squeeze her when it’s safe”.
Debbie has been very supportive of her daughter’s career from the very beginning. In fact, in 2022, the actress had her mom over on the set of The Invitation.
Nathalie told Collider, “Interestingly, the day that we shot that scene or when most of that performance happened, my mum was visiting me on set, and the door in which I was banging against, trying to get out, my mom was actually set up in a little… had a little sort of monitor and headphones watching, and she was on the other side of that door, and it was amazing how useful that was.”
Natalie concluded: “Usually, having your loved ones on set doesn’t necessarily… isn’t always conducive to good performance ’cause it takes you out of the character that you’re doing. But there was something about being like, ‘I need to get to the other side of this door and get to my mom.’ They’d locked the door, they had someone sort of standing behind it, and it was almost just using that ‘I need to get to the person that I love or get out of here to get to that person,’ was really useful. I remember just feeling devastated, absolutely devastated and panicked, and terrified. That day that we did that. My mom was literally on the other side of that, and I was a bit like, ‘Mom are you all right?’ afterward. She was like, ‘Yeah I didn’t like that.’ Didn’t like me screaming like that.”

Nathalie Emmanuel virtually shared much about her father but sources reveal that her father’s name is Matthew Emmanuel. The only time she mentions dad is during Father’s Day posts. Like on Father’s Day 2021, Nathalie tweeted a series of tweets dedicated to all the dads around the world.
