Noah Thompson’s household was always filled with music. His father Chris Thompson was probably the greatest influence in his career as a musician, and his mother Elizabeth Miller also loved listening to music. It was probably because of music that his parents met each other in the first place taking into consideration that Elizabeth was previously married to a genius musician.
“That’s what I grew up listening to. I’m more country, but I’m still trying to figure myself out,” Noah shared in an interview.
The 20-year-old construction worker from Louisa, Kentucky was among the three finalists alongside HunterGirl and Leah Marlene. He told USA Today, “Honestly, dude, I was just kind of numb”.
He continued, “It blew me away. I just didn’t know how to feel. Anybody could have won this show, you know what I mean? I just didn’t think that it was me”. He has a 1-year-old son Walker never traveled by plane before his audition.
“I just got shoved into this competition basically by my buddy, but I’m grateful for it,” he told USA Today. “I just didn’t expect this outcome at all. After Top 3 was when it really hit me.” Reflecting on the time of his audition, he shared, “I can promise you, nobody’s walking into that audition room more nervous. My heart was beating out of my chest. I couldn’t even look at the judges”.
This glorious win of the Louisa-based singer made the whole state of Kentucky proud.

Chris Thompson and his wife Elizabeth Miller separated long before she passed away on 6 May 2018. Elizabeth was 50 years old at the time of her death. After Elizabeth, Chris married his now-wife Amy Thompson. They married in 2008. They met each other three years before their wedding.
On their wedding anniversary in 2017, Amy posted on her Facebook, “Today 9 years ago I married my very best friend…We’ve watched each other grow and encouraged each other to be better versions of ourselves. To say it’s all been easy would be a lie. Because when you share everything you share the bad times too! I like to think our bad times have always ended up being good too because we’ve used them to learn and grow I love the family we share I love the life we choose to share. I love you, Christopher Mark Thompson!!!”
Amy is a native of Blaine, Kentucky. She attended Lawrence County High School followed by Prestonsburg Community College.
Together, Chris and Amy had a son named Gibson Thompson, who should be around 16 as of 2022.
Whereas, Elizabeth was previously married to her late husband Scott Ambrose. They had two daughters together; Britany Miller Dawson and Alexandria Kyle Ambrose.
Scott was regarded as a musical genius. He was passionate about guitar and loved the odd time signatures and unreal technical ability of progressive rock in the vein of Rush and Yes, along with genre-bending bluegrass/jazz/funk styling of bands like Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.
Furthermore, Scott was a master of classical guitar and could pick out a Fernando Sor piece or translate something from Back onto the fretboard just as easily and beautifully as running down an Alex Lifeson riff. Scott had died of a blood clot in his lung just after turning 32 years old.
At the time of her death, Elizabeth was in a relationship with her boyfriend we only know by the name Tony.
