Meet Robby Hoffman, Gabby Windey Girlfriend

On an episode of The View, The Bachelorette’s Gabby Windey revealed that she is dating comedian and TV writer Robby Hoffman. In the show, Gabby expressed that she is very happy in her relationship hailing her partner “She’s the best.”

“It’s been honestly, truly, really the best experience over these last three months,” Gabby said on Instagram Stories before sharing a photo of the couple kissing. “And I’ve been in a relationship like I feel like I’ve never had before.”

Gabby recently made her relationship IG official with a series of pictures. “Told you I’m a girls girl,” her IG caption read.

“I’ve had such an amazing experience just with my time on Bachelor and Bachelorette dating all those men,” On The View’s August 2 show, Gabby said. “That’s how people know me. And I do—I always want to just live my truth and my story. So, I have been seeing someone for a couple of months, and I’ve been keeping it a little more private because it is a bigger story and a bigger conversation ’cause I’m dating a girl.”

On Clayton Echard’s season of The Bachelor, which debuted in early 2022, fans first got to know Gabby. Later that year, on their shared season of The Bachelorette, she distributed the roses alongside Rachel Recchia. Gabby and Erich Schwer got engaged there. The pair did, however, divorce in November.

The split happened in the middle of Gabby’s season of Dancing With the Stars, where she finished second to pro Val Chmerkovskiy. After a hectic few years, the reality star claimed that it wasn’t until she “finally had time to settle in L.A.” that she had the ability to truly listen to her heart.

“I think it was always a whisper in me that just got louder and louder,” Gabby continued on The View. “And I didn’t really know to pay attention to it. I think when this happens there’s some shame obviously surrounding it. So, I think I had to a little bit navigate through the shame—like, what is it, where is it coming from? But ultimately, like I said, I always just want to kind of do me, do what I want, figure it out later.”

Gabby, on the other hand, made it obvious that she is now proud to live her truth.

“Knowing how much people really care, I just want to be honest,” the 32-year-old said. “I don’t want to live and not be living my full truth. I don’t want to do that to myself.”

Gabby added, “I don’t want to do it to my girlfriend. I don’t want to do it to other people who really care about me and feel like they know me.”

Regarding Erich’s response, Gabby responded, “Oh, he doesn’t know. We’ll have to see.”

Overall, she expressed her happiness at being able to convey the news in a way that suits her. “My story’s been told for me so many times, being on TV with the editing and the production,” she said, later adding, “I wanted this just to have a chance to almost beat people to the punch. They’re going to say what they want to say. But I want them to hear it come from my mouth.”

Robby Hoffman Family

Robby Hoffman is an ex-Hasidic New Yorker who was raised by her single Chasidic mother. She grew up with 9 siblings (four sisters and five brothers) in Montreal, Canada. She was seventh of the ten children.

Describing her single mother, Robby shared that her mom “was very meat and potatoes. She was very bare bones, no frills  — we’re gonna be fed, we’re gonna be sheltered, we’re gonna be educated. Period.” She and her 9 siblings were raised on welfare; so, they were financially frail.

“I think a lot of people assume when you’re poor you have no food, but we had tons of food. My mother’s priority was food. So, we had not a lot of room, we were cramped in rooms together, but we ate. She cooked every day. Laundry. We were educated well, we had books and books and books in the house. And we were home where she could see us. And that was it.

“I’m not mean to my mother. A lot of secular people have more of a friendship role with their mother and they can get snappy. I was not that way with my mother, and I think most old people with old-school parents are not that way. We would never. It doesn’t bring anything to me to yell at my mother. The stereotypical tropey mom — this nagging mother and a son that’s always yelling at her — it’s just not my experience at all. We just love and respect what she did.”

“I naturally feel Jewish and naturally do Jewish people things, I don’t have to do something because I’m Jewish. I like doing the things I do because I’m Jewish,” Robby told Hey Alma. Robby was a closeted girl, but she never believed that God was mad at her and never went to Rabbi for help.

In Montreal, Robby said the family became less observant, or what she terms “Lubavitch Conservative.” She also felt alienated because she was gay and her Jewish school was closed-minded, so she walked away from Judaism. But she found her outlet in comedy.

She has also shared about coming out to her mother. “[Coming out] was fine,” Robby said. “I wasn’t Orthodox by then, I was outed at 18 at school [in Montreal], so I knew my family would maybe start to find out, and so I just told my mother, ‘Hey, Ma, I’m gay. I have a girlfriend. She’s blonde.’ And she’s like, ‘Does she want to come for Shabbos?’ And I said, ‘Nobody wants to come.’ It went really, really well. It was cool.”

Instead, she went to her sisters for advice who she learned everything from. Robby explained, “My sister Chaya, in particular, moved out of the house young and was working and living a life and supporting herself. She really led by example and provided a good path for us. In my family, where resources were scarce, we didn’t have an example and a parental figure of how to make that life work. But my older siblings were the exact example I needed for my particular situation. I, too, would be moving out early. I, too, would have to get a job, keep a roof over my head and be independent. And I ended up having pretty good role models for doing exactly that.”

Robby has also posted one of her brothers who is a single father on her IG. Likewise, in another post from 2020 when one of her sisters got married, she introduced all four of her sisters.

In July 2023, Robby shared that her sister Devorah Hoffman (@devorahh) was accepted to USC for a master’s of social work with a paid internship to a full-time job.
