The winner of the eight-part series bags wins the prize of $50,000.
Among the nine bakers is the University of Texas alum Sam Cade. After earning quite a reputation on social media, she is again ready to take her talent to TV. In addition, other casts joining him are Andrew AKA Sugar Freakshow, April a social media baker, Dessiree primarily a wedding cake designer, Hemu owner of Sweet Sensations, Jonny former fast-food cakes creator, Nina owner of food truck Nina Creole, Justin the owner of Everything Just Baked, and Steve an associate dean of the culinary school.
Spoilers Ahead: But after the fierce cake battle, Andrew Fuller was declared the winner of the first season of the Is It Cake? He walked off with a $50,000 prize fund plus an extra $30,000 he won over the ‘winner stays on’ relay part of the competition, where up to $10,000 was up for grabs in each round.

” I just have always had the biggest sweet tooth,” is what Sam Cade says when asked about her inspiration for baking. Her journey started in her sophomore year of high school when she started selling cakes to her friends. She wanted a job in high school and baking seemed like the right way to go for her.
But, only in the first semester of freshman year at UT, did her cake business take off through word of mouth and her Instagram.
In May 2014 interview with Orange magazine, she shared, “It just kind of crazily took off by word of mouth. Last January I had around 400 followers on Instagram and didn’t really do cakes, and now I have close to 3,000 followers, and all of my pictures are of cakes.”
Sam is now the owner of Cade’s Cakes. She launched the business in January 2013. The followers on social media turned into customers and she hasn’t looked back since. Then in December of the same year, she launched her website which explode her business. She takes a dozen orders per week and spends most of her time in the kitchen.
Speaking with Spoon University in 2014, Sam explained that she want to go through the 10-month pastry program at the International Culinary School and eventually open a bakery in Dallas. She had also worked at Tart Bakery previously.
In October 2015, Sam returned to Texas after working at Momofuku Milk Bar in New York City she told D Magazine. She also revealed to the outlet that the strangest cake she ever made was “a cougar wearing glee pajamas drinking a Sonic drink.” Another person ordered a cake to look like a gross foot with yellow nails and warts.
She also told the magazine that she would love to make a Buckingham Palace cake for Prince George, her dream client.
Sam’s work has got her featured in other several magazines and Dallas News. She also appeared on Food Network’s Big Time Bake.
Sam attended Highland Park High School. She attended The University of Texas at Austin and The International Culinary Center.
