A team of highly skilled 9 bakers joined the baking show where artists create mouthwatering replicas of handbags, toys, and more in a mind-bending baking contest inspired by a popular meme. The winner of the eight-part series bags the prize of $50,000.

He walked off with a $50,000 prize fund plus an extra $30,000 he won over the ‘winner stays on’ relay part of the competition, where up to $10,000 was up for grabs in each round.

Hemu Basu Career
Hemu Basu started her cake journey back in 2013 in Scotland. Her love for art, an accidental stumbling into an awesome cake recipe, and a little bit of cajoling from my friends and family was the start of her journey, The Sweet Sensation. After moving to Texas in 2015, he saw an online cake competition and decided to compete and won the competition.
In an interview with Katy Times, she said, “Don’t ever give up. When I started in (2011) I knew nothing. I think, in truth, I knew nothing about baking – how to decorate cakes – nothing at all, so I read a book about cake making and what will make you want to pay me for (baking).”
The self-taught baker has been going at it ever since. She has been the recipient of several awards such as February 2016 – first place in pretty witty cakes the UK, May 2016 – first place in Sugar Art showcase San Antonio, May 2017 – first and third place in SAS cake show San Antonio Texas, October 2017- first place in professional sculpted cakes category at showing me sweets cake show in St Louis, and many more.
Her portfolio is filled with cakes for different occasions like birthdays, graduation, sculpted, and wedding. She also makes figurines and Indian cakes. The sculpted cakes in Sweet Sensations cost above $300 whereas custom cakes start from $150. The starting price for figurines and Indian flavored cakes starts at $80.
Hemu was previously featured on Food Network’s Halloween Wars and won.
Besides running her shop, Hewmu also served in different roles. She became brand ambassador at Ultimakes and Sugarin Cake Decor.
Furthermore, she works at Satin Ice and Hemu’s sweet sensation LLC. She is also the USA Division Member at FIPGC USA Division International Federation of Pastry Gelato & Chocolate.
However, her parents wanted her to pursue her Master’s degree but her family pushed her to bake.

Hemu Basu Husband
Hemu Basu is married to her husband Biswajeet Basumatary. They tied the knots on 13 July 2003 so you know they are together happily for 18 years. She brags about how supportive has been on her business page. She shares two children (Nandita and Nandu) with Biswajeet. Their eldest daughter Nandita turned 17 years old in January 2022.
Hemu also shared that her son is her toughest critique.

Hemu’s husband, Biswajeet attended Ctton College, Guwahati followed by Computer science at Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, Bhopal, Bhopal, and Computer science at MACT. He is currently working as an engineer at Schlumberger.
Her family also lived in Aberdeen, Scotland but he transferred to Houston, Texas in 2013.
