Our favorite and Emmy-winning reality series Queer Eye returned for its sixth season on 31 December 2021. And so did “Fab Five”. Just like old times, the “make better” experts Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk, and Antoni Porowski returned to help a new group of 10 heroes rebuild their confidence. Sarah Lim, who we are about to exclusively talk about is one of them.
Before or after you see Sarah Lim getting ready for a major makeover on the show, you may want to be acquainted with this ‘Sarah Lim Bio’.
Sarah Lim On Queer Eye
Days before Queer Eye Season 6 dropped on Netflix, Sarah took to her social media to express that she still feels surreal and unbelievable about being a part of such great of a project.
So, Sarah is on the show realizing that she needs transformation from her image of being fashionably challenged.
Just a little sneak peek into Sarah’s part of the story on the show: showing the severity of the impact COVID-19 had on small businesses, the Fab Five meet Sarah, the owner of gluten-free Asian-inspired bakery OMG Squee.
Citing that the pandemic strain led her to focus more on her business and less on herself, Sarah is ready for a makeover and you would not want to miss it.
Sarah Lim Age
Reportedly born in 1986, Sarah Lim turned 35 years old in 2021.
Is Sarah Lim Married?
Sarah Lim’s relationship status is not known. So, as of now, one could not tell if or not she is married.
However, after some digging into her Instagram we found out her business partner Micahel DeAnda is the only man featured on her IG accounts.
Sarah Lim Family
Sarah Lim’s dad is a Chinese Malaysian immigrant and her mom is from working-class Greek and Fr. Canadian immigrants.
Sharing her bitter experiences being a mixed-race Sarah voiced how her identity has always been in question just because she does not always pass the Asian-looking test.
Then Sarah went on highlight one specific story of when she was 5. At the time, she mainly spoke Cantonese at home with her dad and English with her mom. (“Since I’m the oldest, my dad taught me how to read & do simple math before I started school.”)
Then during Kindergarten in Dallas, her White teacher one day informed her parents that Sarah needed to be placed in ESL because she had used “ONE Chinese word”. As a result, her dad never spoke Cantonese to her again or with her younger sisters. I assume he felt defeated & suffered from his racial-related traumas, so he felt it was best for his children to assimilate.
And now looking back, Sarah, who is the eldest of her siblings, is saddened by the fact that she was not able to learn Cantonese just because “of one ignorant person in a powerful institutional position”. She considers this as her biggest personal loss of her Chinese culture also because likely no future generation of her family in America will be able to speak Cantonese.
All that aside, Sarah is very close to her family. And on occasions like Father’s Day, she would express her feelings with something like: “Happy Father’s Day to all the rad dads out there that helped shaped us into the weirdos we are. 💖”.
