Jamie Wallace-Griner On Queer Eye
Jamie Wallace-Griner is one of the ten heroes who appeared on Netflix’s ‘Queer Eye’. She has been dubbed as ‘Snow White of Central Texas’ because she spent her life caring for the special needs of neglected animals at her non-profit SAFE based in Austin, Texas. She joined the show because she was ready to focus on herself.
Like many heroes featured on ‘Queer Eye’, Jamie struggled with self-care and prioritizing herself over others. She founded her non-profit inspired by the bond her autistic son Jackson had with her family dog.
The ranch currently shelters 18 different species of animals. That includes the animals that have been abused or neglected, are blind or deaf, or have diabetes, cerebral palsy, deformities, missing limbs, or broken spines. In the process, she stopped caring for her needs while taking care of them.
Jamie explained, “There is never a moment in any part of any day, day or night, that there isn’t someone that could use my help, animal or human, ever”.
As a result, Jamie was nominated by her mother Karen and her husband David. They explained that Jamie would have given a kidney to get a barn for the additional animal. But, she didn’t have to spare any organs because interior design expert Bobby Berk helped her build the barn of her dreams.
On 31 December 2021, she took to her Instagram to announce, “We stayed up for the 2 am premiere. Season 6 — Episode 7! Humbled, blessed, and forever grateful for the gift that made 2021, the year of the barn. We couldn’t have done it without @Netflix, @Queer Eye, and all of you, our rescue family.”
Jamie also shared the excitement about her episode of ‘Queer Eye’ with a lengthy post on her Facebook. She shared that she had all kinds of knots in her stomach before the premiere of the show.
Moreover, Jamie wrote, “The taping was almost six months ago, but I’ll tell you it was an extremely emotional ride. This has been a hard year. For all of us. But it’s been a year when I was needed more than ever and I struggled to be a better and stronger person than I could ever imagine being. The honor and the gifts and the struggle and the growth and the emotions that went with all of it was a LOT!!!”

Every single one of them has a story. Some of them joyful and some of them harder and heavier [than] anyone heart should carry. All of them surrounded and snuggling with animals and people that understand.”
Furthermore, Jamie also revealed that the ‘Queer Eye’ team rescued some dogs while they were in Texas. She shared pictures of a few puppies and wrote that the dog’s mother had died “trying to protect them in an abandoned bus”. She wrote in the caption, “We’ve referred to them as the Queer Eye litter for months,” she also noted that three of the puppies were given forever homes by ‘Queer Eye’ employees and one of them was Fab 5’s Jonathan Van Ness.
