Shona Manderson Bio, Job, Family, Age, MAFS UK 2023

Since the premiere of MAFS, Brad Skelly and Shona Manderson have garnered all the attention with their dysfunctional “marriage”. The drama got so much out of hand that her “husband” Brad had to be kicked out of the show.

Who is Shona? Who are her family members? How old is she now? Get to learn more about her as this article proceeds further.

MAFS UK 2023: Are Brad Skelly And Shona Manderson Still Together?

No, Brad Skelly and Shona Manderson from MAFS UK 2023 are no longer together.

Married At First Sight UK has fired Brad Skelly for acting in a “controlling” and “manipulative” manner toward his wife Shona. The model has drawn criticism for how he treated the teacher of performing arts, and shows professionals had to step in after warning that his actions could turn “dangerous.” After Brad mentioned ‘enabling’ Shona’s feelings in Wednesday’s episode, many even went so far as to criticize him for being ‘controlling’.

A Channel 4 Spokesperson told MailOnline: “The couple’s exit plays out in the show. It was agreed alongside experts Paul, Mel, and Charlene that the intensive Married at First Sight environment was not working for the couple and it was the right time to leave the experiment.”

“The relationships on Married at First Sight UK are closely monitored off-screen, by production and an independent psychologist. If any of the relationships develop in a way that is deemed to be potentially unhealthy for either party, we would take expert psychological advice as to whether it was time for them to leave the process.”

The spokesperson concluded, “The welfare of all contributors on Married at First Sight UK is our top priority and we ensure that appropriate support is available to contributors at all times during filming, including 24/7 access to a member of the welfare team or psych support.”

On Tuesday’s episode, after Shona expressed her disgust in the other couples for “doubting” them, Brad yelled at her to “shut up” and said she was acting “emotionally immature.” During the marriage ceremony, the couple discussed their differences, but Brad immediately referred to Shona as “emotionally immature” before saying that she needed to be “taught” how to control her rage.

Brad shockingly said: ‘Not that I’m in a position of authority or to teach her, but if I allow her to get angry, is she ever going to learn?’

Brad spoke about their argument during the dinner party and conveyed his opinion that they were at “different levels of emotional maturity” during the commitment ceremony.

Brad said: ‘Situations where Shona has felt to get involved when it’s unnecessary, I struggle but we’re at different levels of emotional maturity.’

Shona then acknowledged that she was unsure of how to feel before stating that at the dinner party, her “natural human reaction” was to question why other couples were giving them low marks for compatibility. Brad then said: “I’m living in my vessel, so all I need to care about is the way internally. This is what I was trying to explain to Shona, they’re so entitled…”

Brad has been a hot topic of discussion for the past few weeks after his remarks on the well-liked E4 program generated a stir among viewers.

Brad, who apparently has already moved on with a new girl from his hometown after making headlines for all the wrong reasons, spoke with The Mirror about being portrayed negatively while giving his side of the story.

Brad admitted he was never in love with the teacher, but the “highly emotional environment” with “no external influences and guidance” made it easy to confuse lust with love. He told Mirror: “I most definitely can confirm that I wasn’t in love, but at that time, it was a strong feeling of lust that I got confused with.”

Brad added, “Yeah because you haven’t got a lot of external influences or guidance like you have on the outside world like on the outside world you have a lot of freedom and flexibility to actually find out if that’s the case. You know, when in there I was really trying to make it work. So I think a lot of the time with me saying these things I was trying my hardest, you know, to really make things work but I was really trying to navigate myself to be fair.”

However, he understood why he received a lot of backlash for the way he spoke to/about Shona. The model claimed he “never intended” to “project certain terminology.” Agreeing with the experts for calling him out and correcting him, he said: “I agree with what they’re saying [about his controlling language].

“So the way that I project certain terminology, however, is never intended that way. So for me, when I expressed that if ‘I allow Shona to do this, then she will never learn’. Yeah, it was more so the whole conversation was coming from the heart and a sense of, Well, ‘if me and Shona or partnership, and we’re sort of trying to look out for each other, it’s in each other’s best interests to sort of have each other’s back, you know, so if we allow each other to go rogue or to want to guide each other, you know what I mean? So if we allow each other to fall into situations, that we’re aware of we will both never learn.’ It was obviously snipped at the part where I said that and I can completely understand how it looks.”

Shona Manderson Family

Shona Manderson told The Tabs after the MAFS season premiere that although they didn’t actually attend her wedding on-screen, her family had backed her decision to be on the show. The Nottingham performing arts teacher previously described how she was excited for the experiment to assist her in breaking the cycle of whirlwind flings and finding Mr. Right.

But after being promptly cast for the current season of the show, she was anxious to tell her family about her upcoming wedding since she was worried about their reaction.

The 31-year-old claimed that her mother was “on the fence” about her wedding taking place on television and that her sister declined to attend the event because she didn’t want to be a part of it.

“My sister was like, hey, I support you but I’m not coming to the wedding, I want nothing to do with it”. She described her family as “amazing,” but admitted that she was “so scared” to tell them that she would be a bride on the newest season because she wouldn’t have wanted to join the show if they had voiced their displeasure.

Shona’s dad was more accepting of the notion and said, “Why not?” when she decided to wed a stranger. She stated that she was concerned about her family’s reaction to her marrying a stranger and that she thought MAFS was the best option because she has experienced “a lot of two-year relationships”.

“I applied for MAFS because I’ve had a lot of two-year relationships like loads and loads and loads. And I was like, Oh, this relationship ended, I feel like I’m doing something wrong. I’m nearly 31, I want to meet the love of my life, I feel like he doesn’t live in Nottingham.”
