Who Are Tim Ballard Parents?
Tim Ballard, the son of Melanie and Dennis Ballard, is a real-life anti-trafficking activist. He has been portrayed on Sound of Freedom by actor Jim Caviezel.
O.U.R.’s creator and president, Tim, served as a special agent with the Department of Homeland Security for 12 years. He started trying to free children from sexual slavery and exploitation while he was employed by Homeland. At that time, the American government had only started to establish its first anti-human trafficking teams.
He would pose as a pedophile or child smuggler in order to infiltrate trafficking groups and break them up as an undercover agent. Consequently, throughout a ten-year period, many of these organizations were successfully dismantled.
Due to the utmost darkness and wickedness of the crimes associated with the exploitation and trafficking of children, it is understandable that Tim was initially quite hesitant to work in such child trafficking task groups. He said it himself: “I knew it existed, but I didn’t want to see it.”
Tim believed there was more that could be done in this struggle if he founded a non-profit organization despite ten years of saving children at Homeland Security. He was aware that this effort might be advanced significantly and that many more children could be saved by founding a nonprofit that collaborates with authorities.
Tim left his position with the government in 2013, and to carry on his work, he founded the private, non-profit company Operation Underground Railroad a month later.
In September 2019, Tim shared on his IG, “Ok it’s confession time! I totally missed my moms birthday 😬😢 but I did get a chance to make it up to her in a big way! (I’ll tell you that story later 😊) Well just like my mom always does, she ended up giving me the bigger gift as she and my dad decided to give their very first ever interview on film.”
He concluded the post, “Of course they couldn’t resist sharing some embarrassing stories and juicy details 🙄😬😂 Love you mom and dad!
