At the time of his death, William Hurt was single. But, he was married two times and had two other lovers in between one of which dragged him into a lengthy court battle. His first wife was Mary Beth Hurt, but more on her later. After the marriage between Mary and William fell apart he started seeing Sandra Jennings.

William and Sandra met each other in 1981 in Saratoga Springs, New York. She was performing with the New York City Ballet and the actor was appearing in a play. Shortly after they started living together. Two of them never had a wedding ceremony but lived together for 3 and 1/2 years until 1984. She claimed that her status rose from significant-otherhood to ”wife.”

Sandra pursued a lawsuit to get “divorced” from the father of her child by proving that they had fulfilled the requirements constituting a common law marriage in South Carolina. They share a son named Alexander Devon Hurt who was 6-year-old in 1989 when the “divorce” unfolded in Manhattan court.

Sandra was 32 at the time whereas William was 39. Former ballerina moved in with William when she was eight months pregnant in a rented house in Beaumont, South Carolina. They lived there between Oct. 31, 1982, and Jan. 10, 1983.

Sandra’s attorney had claimed that William had referred to her as “spouse” for a doctor’s appointment during her pregnancy. She quit her 8-year career with the New York City Ballet when she became pregnant with Alexander, in 1982 and claimed not working full-time since.

Moreover., she also claimed to sign an “agreement” in 1983 in the form of a pre-nuptial agreement that both parties signed and had notarized in South Carolina.

In the lawsuit against Williams, Sandra revealed that he infected her with chlamydia and was subject to ”violent physical and verbal” abuse.

Sandra was going for Williams’ $10 million net worth at the time.

William Hurt and Heidi Henderson met while they were undergoing alcohol and drug rehabilitation at the Hazelden center in Center City, Minnesota. They married in March 1989 which lasted only four years. Then he moved to Paris after the divorce. Heidi worked as an actress in Ode in 2004. She also worked as a costume designer for the film.

She is the daughter of a pianist and composer Skitch Henderson.
