Meet Lauryn Bodden, The Snack vs. Chef Season 1 Winner
Netflix’s culinary competition show The Snack Vs. Chef’s season 1 kicked off on 30 November. The eight-part show saw two comedians Megan Stalter and Hari Kondabolu hosting the show with 12 chefs competing for a cash prize of $50,000. As with all of the reality shows, there was competition and an elimination process.
Two of the finalist in the final episode was Lauryn Bodden and Sandy Dee Hall. While both chefs created amazing meals using their knowledge, experience, and enormous imagination, Lauryn triumphed over her rivals to win the prize money and the coveted title.
One of the finalists “will enter the kitchen as a mere snack-making mortal and emerge a snack deity,” according to co-host Hari Kondabolu, before the challenge. He continued by saying that the goal was to come up with “the next big thing,” which will quickly transport the judges and hosts to the “future of snacks.”
The judge for Snack Vs. Chef, Ali Bouzari, emphasized that the finalists had to make a snack that was influenced by what they had discovered during the competition and utilize it to hone their own magical component. The judge did add that they were free to prepare their own snack, though.
The finalists took four hours to prepare the dish and Lauryn decided to make cavatelli amatriciana (a kind of pasta) in snack-sized form. The recipe creator created cavatelli amatriciana in bite-size shape after drawing inspiration from her love of the traditional Italian dish. The popular meal, which has Amatrice, Italy, as its birthplace, is made out of cavatelli (little pasta shells) and an enticing sauce composed primarily of tomato, parmesan cheese, and guanciale, or Italian cured pork cheek.
Her dish gained good feedback from the judges. They praised her for the flavor profile and the use of bacon, an animal flavor with savory and light elements that they believed was essential for reinventing the snacking sector. Sandy decided to make a snack that was innovative and create a healthy version of chips and popcorn.
Eventually, Lauryn defeated Sandy and went on to win Snack Vs. Chef and the grand cash prize of $50,000.
