Malia Taggart is Drew Taggart’s younger and only sister. They were both to their parents, Laura Girr and Mark Taggart in Freeport, ME.
Her mother, Laura is the daughter of the late Leo A. Girr, who passed away at the age of 73 on 10 July 2008, after a brief and sudden illness. Originally from Newport, Rhode Island, Leo moved to Maine in 1965 and lived there for the rest of his life. Laura and there of her siblings (Catherine Girr Jennifer Leyne and Jeffrey Girr) were born there to their late mother Margaret ‘Peggy’ Girr.
During her lifetime, Laura Girr built a career as a technology integrator and world language teacher. On Twitter, her job was described as her trying to help people use technology better. She was especially interested in the possibilities of personalized learning and seeking to support app developers and users as products are created for this market.
Her last job before she retired was as a “Technology Integration Specialist” at Maine Schools. Before that, from January 2000 through June 2014, she was a technology coordinator and integrator at Freeport High School. And even prior to that, she taught all levels of Spanish and German in several schools.
As for her education, Laura has a BA in Modern Languages from the University of Maine. She also has a MA in Technology in Education from Lesley University.
Now, talking about Malia’s father, Mark Taggart is a certified Orthotist who was working as the operations manager at Maine Orthotics and Prosthetics since November 2012. Also, he was an orthotist at Freeport Orthotics which he founded in 2005.
Laura and Mark were both 62 years old in 2023.
The last we saw Drew, he was coupled up with the single Selena Gomez and the duo wasn’t even trying to hide their romance. As per an insider, the “Lose You To Love Me” singer was “so affectionate” with Malia, and “Selena can hardly keep her hands off him.”

Malia Taggart is an educator with extensive experience teaching at a variety of traditional public, charter, and independent schools in New York City and Washington, D.C. She enjoys teaching Humanities due to its natural intersections with issues relating to social justice, such as inequality, feminism, prejudice, privilege, power, and community.
In 2023, Malia was working as a history teacher at Basis: DC Public Charter School for over 7 ½ years already. Also, she was tutoring individual students primarily in writing at Bates College Education Department for over 8 years and was working as a Student Nutrition Coordinator at Bates College Dining Services for over 11 years, then.
