Miss Alabama for America 2021 and a conservative commentator Zoe Sozo Bethel has died after injuries suffered in an accident. Her family released an official statement via Zoe’s IG page. The post read, “On Friday, February 18, 2022, at approximately 5:30 AM Eastern time in Miami, Florida, our beloved Zoe Sozo Bethel passed from this life into the next as a result of succumbing to her injuries.”
It stated further, “Zoe touched the hearts of many people and was actively affiliated with several organizations and groups namely, she was the current Miss Alabama (for America Strong), a political commentator for RSBN, a Brand Ambassador for Turning Point USA, and Liberty University’s Falkirk Center. She was also a spokeswoman for Students for Life and affiliated with Project Veritas.”
The post continued, “At this time of bereavement, effectual and fervent prayers are solicited for the family members, and the family asks that their privacy wishes be honored and respected. The family members sincerely appreciate all of the kind words and expressions of love for Zoe. For those who would like to show additional support, you may click on the link above. This support will help cover medical and burial arrangement costs for Zoe.”
The family also set up a GoFundMe page because she went through multiple surgeries. The page raised over $41,220 in donations. She reportedly didn’t have health insurance.

Zoe Sozo Bethel was born to her infamous parents Orlando and Glynis Bethel. They lived in Loxley, Alabama, and sometimes in Nashville, earned fame as evangelists of lawsuits, always suing when they believe they have been treated with “police brutality”. Her mother is a self-proclaimed “prophetess at New Life Gospel Productions Inc.
Back in 2011, Glynis was arrested for pepper-spraying a woman who was protesting her anti-gay preaching. But, the officer moved in to arrest her, he pepper-sprayed him too. Upon release on bond three days later, her mother did a press release where she accused, “I would prefer to be beaten and to die than to allow these wicked and evil Nashville police officers and white racist bigots to get away with breaking the laws they are supposed to be upholding”.
Also, Zoe’s father Orlando — referred to himself as a fire and brimstone preacher in court documents had filed a $1 million civil lawsuit against Middletown City Schools in April 2011. He filed a lawsuit after Zoe wore a T-shirt at the high school proclaiming “god hates (expletive)” and “repent or burn in hell.”
Zoe spoke with Dayton Daily News and shared, “Some of the staff there they just were kind of shocked, they were saying it wasn’t appropriate.” In 2020, she wished Father’s Day to her dad via an IG post which she captioned, “Happy Father’s Day to my daddy. Thank you for being an example in my life, and leading me. #Iloveyou #MAJORTHROWBACK “.
Her parents filed over 50 similar federal lawsuits — mostly in the South — against school districts, police agencies, villages, and cities. In January, the couple filed suit against the Boone County Board of Education in Florence, Kentucky the same year. The Bethels earned prominence throughout the South for similar suits. Most of the suits ended in dismissal at the court.
