Bravo’s Married to Medicine star Alicia Egolum is married to her college sweetheart Nkemakonam Egolum. They met each other while they were pursuing their doctorate at the Howard University of Dentistry in Washington DC.

Nkemakonam never treats a stranger and goes out of his way to get to know his patients personally because he feels that compassion is the most crucial component of treatment. In Washington, DC, he finished his dental education at Howard University College of Dentistry. During his latter years, he had several leadership roles in the student government, including class treasurer and vice president of the Student Council.
Nkemakonam proved to be incredibly committed and determined, finishing both the national dentistry board exam and the criteria for dental school a full semester ahead of schedule. Dr. Egolum excelled in his dentistry school and was accepted straight into Howard University Hospital’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program. He was also inducted into the most renowned dental honor organization, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
Furthermore, Dr. Nkemakonam Egolum underwent extensive training in Internal Medicine, General Surgery/Trauma, Emergency Medicine, and Anesthesia during his demanding four years of training. He also gained a broad breadth of experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Egolum has a great deal of experience with anesthesia; most of it was gained while he dealt with ill children from newborns to adolescents at Children’s National Medical Center, Veterans Hospital of Washington, and Howard University Hospital.
He appreciates all aspects of oral surgery, but he is particularly interested in orthognathic (jaw reconstruction) surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, implant surgery, and facial trauma. At the moment, Dr. Egolum works at Emory Johns Creek Hospital.
At Georgetown Hospital, Dr. Nkemakonam had direct training under internationally recognized and published oral and maxillofacial surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Posnick, with whom he co-authored numerous publications on the Long-Term Results of Orthognathic Surgery in Patients with Dentofacial Deformities.
His career began as a resident physician at POSNICK Center for Orthognathic and Cleft Reconstructive Surgery from 2016 to 2017. Then he worked as a Resident Physician at ZEBOVITZ, Center for Advanced TMJ & Orthognathic Surgery.
