HGTV’s second season of Building Roots is releasing on 17 September 2023. Husband-and-wife design team Ben Dozier and Cristi Dozier are the hosts of this show. Better known as Amy Brown, she is Cristi’s sister and one of the Top fans of Building Roots as in recent times she has been helping spread the word about the Doziers show. HGTV’s Cristi Dozier is the co-founder of Root Design Company, the one she and her husband established in 2004. Amy Brown, Cristi’s sister, was the first employee here. She was just 22 at the time. Fast forward to today, Amy still continues to support her sister in whatever way she can.
Of course, both Amy and Cristi share the same parents. They are Harvey and Judy Moffett.
Harvey, born on 21 May 1941, grew up alongside his six elder siblings on a farm in Dilley, Texas. Later in life, he played basketball for Southwestern University in Georgetown. Most of his life has been spent in Texas, while also running a service station in college, then teaching, and coaching.
Speaking of Amy’s mom, Judy, she passed away on 27 October 2014. She was born in Gadsden, Alabama and here and in Birmingham is where she spent her early years until 1976 when she married Harvey. Also, so you know, at her wedding, Judy was pregnant with Cristi. She moved to Texas afterward. Judy worked in the hospitality industry and Cristi’s father-in-law Dirk was her boss for over 20 years.
Amy and Cristi also seemingly have half or step-siblings from Harvey’s other relationships. We assume this because David Etheredge and Kim Meyers were not mentioned in Amy and Cristi’s mom’s obituary.

Earlier in March 2023, in The Bobby Bones Show, Amy for the first time spoke that she and her husband are getting a divorce. She explained that the decision was not made lightly. Instead, they spent the last few years working towards what is most loving for everyone involved and true to the people they have become, she gushed. Above all things, she said, they thought about the well-being of their kids. In her words, their top priority through all of it was learning to co-parent and show up as the best co-parents possible.
