Corterrius Allen is one of the competitors on season 2 of Netflix’s Is It Cake, Too? This isn’t the first show he has competed on. Corterrius teamed up with Holly Webster from Las Vegas, Nevada, and Amy Strickland from Orlando, Florida for the food competition on Food Network’s Halloween Wars.
The Shelby native was the youngest person in the competition. “There is something therapeutic about baking and designing cakes. I love the designs and coming up with different levels of creativity. One day I want to own my cake studio,” Corterrius said. “My motto is that, ‘Every day is somebody’s birthday.’ That means every morning, I have the opportunity to help place a smile on someone’s face and share in their happiness.”
“I’ve gotta put my all into this,” Corterrius stated in the trailer of Netflix’s show, “I want that money.”

What Job Does Corterrius Allen Do For A Living?
With the help of a $35 baking kit and two cupcake pans that his mother, Jacquelyn Allen, bought for him, Corterrius “DaCakeGoat” Allen began his adventure and discovered his love of creating and designing cakes.
“I was 18 years old when I got into baking and decorating cakes. I got into the art of baking when I was a senior in high school. In my search for a job, I found myself at the Sweetery Bake Shop, where I worked as a baker, dishwasher, and buttercream maker,” said the Mississippi native. “I was very observant and soon learned to bake and create delicious works of art. By the time I started school at Coahoma Community College, I also decided to start my own career in baking.”
While he claims that his first cake was “ugly,” the buddy who received it thought it was excellent and raved about it. After a couple of years, the 20-year-old social work major from Mississippi Valley State University has made significant progress since purchasing that $35 baking set.
Corterrius previously said his love of designing cakes just came out of nowhere. “My senior year, I worked at a bakery in Cleveland called “The Sweetery,” while working, I was making buttercream, washing dishes, and baking, but I never cake decorated,” he explained.
Following graduation, Corterrius enrolled at Coahoma Community College, where he began to investigate baking on a completely new level. He was a member of the CCC choir, and student government association and participated in several campus organizations with the hopes of becoming as well-rounded as possible during his Coahoma years.
Ultimately, Corterrius graduated with honor this spring, following his studies in sociology.
